Paper 1 – Quantitative Aptitude

This section has 100 questions having 2 marks each. This makes it a total of 200 marks. There is a negative marking in this section with 0.5 marks getting deducted for each wrong answer. The difficulty level for this exam is equivalent to class X.

Paper 2 – English Language

This section has 200 questions having 1 marks each. This makes it a total of 200 marks. There is a negative marking in this section with 0.25 marks getting deducted for each wrong answer. The difficulty level for this exam is equivalent to class XII.

Paper 3 – Statistics

This section has 100 questions having 2 marks each. This makes it a total of 200 marks. There is a negative marking in this section with 0.5 marks getting deducted for each wrong answer. The difficulty level for this exam is equivalent to graduate level.

Paper 4 – Finance & Accounting

This section has 40 questions having 2 marks each. This makes it a total of 80 marks. There is a negative marking in this section with 0.5 marks getting deducted for each wrong answer. The difficulty level for this exam is equivalent to graduate level.

AND

Paper 4 – Economics & Governance

This section has 60 questions having 2 marks each. This makes it a total of 120 marks. There is a negative marking in this section with 0.5 marks getting deducted for each wrong answer. The difficulty level for this exam is equivalent to graduate level.

SSC CGL Tier II Study Plan

  1. In order to prepare for this exam, you should allow the maximum time to the Statistics subject as it is quite high in difficulty level and needs a lot of time to make it right. It also has a high weightage and hence, it will be beneficial if you get hold of these concepts first.
  1. Along with Statistics, you can also devote equal time to Finance and Accounting and the other section of Economics and Governance. There is not a lot of difference in their weightage and we believe Accounting basics are distinguishing factor between a good candidate and a great candidate.
  1. Now, you can spend time working on at least 30 quantitative aptitude questions each day. You can either attack this section topic by topic or do a mixed bag of questions each day. What really matters here is the perfect blend of speed and accuracy. You really need to manage your time really well when attempting these questions. Time management and good conceptual basics are the keys to scoring good marks in this section.
  1. Lastly, you can lay your focus on the English language section which is the most scoring section out of all. You need to read books and newspapers thoroughly before attempting the actual exam. Make sure you practice comprehension passages and revise basic grammar rules really well over the course of your preparation. Topics like sentence completion and synonyms and antonyms have a pattern of questions that are available in almost every question bank and can be mastered quite easily.

After the section wide practice, the candidate should attempt at least 10 mock tests with an exact timed scenario to get a good feel of what the actual exam is going to be like.
