To counter part Reliance Jio – Vodafone, India’s 2nd largest network is trying to stop their users to migrate by providing more 4G data. Vodafone is offering free 10GB 4G mobile services at the expense of 1GB plan. Basically, with each new 4G smartphone, you will get 9GB 4G of free data when recharge for 1GB 3G/4G data plan.
Along with this plan, they have also reduced the overall regular data plans for 3G and 4G –
2GB of 4G/3G data – Rs. 350 (down from Rs. 450)
3GB of 4G/3G data – Rs. 450 (Rs. 650 earlier)
5GB of 4G/3G data – Rs. 650 (Rs. 850 earlier)
Interestingly, 1GB regular data plan by Vodafone has been not changed i.e Rs.250, which is still very high.
Sandeep Kataria, Director- Commercial, of Vodafone India, said , “With the festive season approaching, we are giving a greater reason to customers to upgrade to 4G handsets. With this offer, we are encouraging new 4G handset users to enjoy the Vodafone SuperNet experience to the fullest and explore the wonders of the Internet in a truly worry-free manner,”
For customers in Uttar Pradesh (West), Uttar Pradesh (East), Haryana, Karnataka, Gujarat, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Goa, Assam, the North-East states, and Rajasthan will get 9GB 3G data on 4G handset during a limited time between 12AM to 6AM. However, customers from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata opting for this package will get this offer for whole day cycle.
Except, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata for all other states where this plan is valid, customers will find little use of this plan. In comparison, Jio is providing it for free (although they have problems too) and Airtel plans seem to be more cost-effective.

This new Vodafone 4G plan will only work on new 4G devices or a 4G handset which was not registered on Vodafone network for last 6 months.
With this offer Vodafone customer will get free TV, Movies and Music subscriptions on Vodafone Play. This offer is independent of Vodafone Flex scheme.
During the launch, Sandeep Kataria said “India has a very large spectrum of people, about 95 percent, who don’t have a 4G phone. We are not new entrants. We have to look after not 5 million or 10 million subscribers; we have to look after 200 million subscribers,”.
There are multiple reasons why we are disappointed with this – first, you have to buy a new phone which easily costs upwards Rs.3000 or also if we multiply Rs.250 (1GB plan) for 6 months, it still costs Rs.1500. This is way higher than what Airtel offers.
