Child Labour in India continues to be an issue that needs better regulation as the enforcement of laws that prohibit the same are hardly effective.

Indian Labour laws are governed by the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Act of 2016.

To tackle the rising number of child labour, the Sustainable Development Goal 8 has a target of eliminating all child labour by 2025.

India also has the National Child Labour Project (NCLP) where children who are working are shifted to Special Training Centres, where they are given bridge education, vocational training and meals and then eventually moved into a formal education system.
