Ben Affleck to Write, Direct Making of “Chinatown” Movie

American filmmaker Ben Affleck will write and direct a film about the making of the feature film “Chinatown”, a cult production of Roman Polanski, released in 1974.

The adaptation of “The Big Goodbye: Chinatown and the Last Years of Hollywood” after Sam Wasson’s book will be produced by Paramount.

Affleck will also be producing, along with Lorne Michaels, creator of Saturday Night Live.

“Chinatown” (1974), starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway, is considered one of the best films of all time.

In Wasson’s book, it is pointed out that his production was not exactly easy. Director Roman Polanski had an argument with Faye Dunaway, who got the role after Jane Fonda refused, John Huston filmed a drinking scene, and Jerry Goldsmith’s music was added at the last minute.

Most recently, Ben Affleck directed “Live by Night” (2016), which he wrote and starred in. Elle Fanning, Chris Messina, and Zoe Saldana also starred in the cast of the film. The budget was $ 65 million, and revenues globally were $ 22 million.

However, Ben Affleck is known for films such as “Argo” and “Good Will Hunting”, which he wrote and produced and which won him two Oscar trophies, but also for “The Town”.
