Journalist Lorenzo Soria, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), an organization that awards Golden Globes, has died at the age of 68.

Soria died Friday at his Los Angeles home, a family member said. The cause of death was not disclosed.

Born in Argentina, Lorenzo Soria spent several years in Italy, where he was a journalist for the weekly L’Espresso. Since 1988, he has worked for the daily La Stampa.

Since 1982 he has lived in Los Angeles, writing about politics, technology, and society, but also about Hollywood and the entertainment industry.

He has been part of the HFPA since 1989. He was a member for 24 years, and between 2003 – 2005 and 2015 – 2017, he was president of the Association. For the past two years, he has been chairman of the board. Last year, he was re-elected president.

“Lorenzo was a beloved member of the entertainment industry and the Hollywood community,” HFPA reported.

In June 2019, he said: “It is a privilege to be re-elected president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. I look forward to continuing with the HFPA colleagues to continue the organization’s mission to recognize the best in film and television, introducing the next generation of storytellers. I have never been more proud of the future of our organization. “
