Breakfast Like a King: Making Your Dining Space Fit for Royalty

We are all familiar with the old adage: eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dine like a pauper. But regardless of the time of day and the meal that’s on your plate, the space that you eat in should be fit for royalty. Nowadays way too many people are opting to eat their meals from their laps in front of the television. Not only is this bad for your digestion, but it’s bad for the social side of eating too. After all, how are you supposed to hold up a serious conversation with your loved ones if you are facing away from one another and your voices are drowned out by the sound of the television set? It’s time to start working on your personal Dining space, ensuring that it meets all of your needs as well as fitting in with your interior’s aesthetic. Here are one or two things to consider changing.

Seating

For dining, you should be seated at a dining Table. Not only does this help to ensure that you have the proper posture for consuming and digesting your food, but it is more comfortable in general. Who wants to be hunched over a plate on their lap? Invest in something high quality that will stand the test of time. After all, you should be getting plenty of use out of it. Something like this cherry dining set would be ideal. Ensure that your seats have high backs for support and are cushioned for comfort. The table should be of a reasonable height, allowing you to pull your chair in and under without squashing your thighs.

Lighting

Ideally, your dining space should have plenty of natural Lighting. Of course, this isn’t always possible. But, having larger windows installed or French doors fitted can really make all of the difference. The natural light with perk you up in the mornings and you will be able to bask in the sunset with a glass of wine at the table in the evenings. You should also have some soft glow artificial lighting for the night so that you can dine late without having bright, sterile, artificial light blaring down on you. For a more rustic, authentic look, check out vintage style bulbs and fittings. If you have a more modern design in mind, spotlights are brilliant. They can often be fitted with a dimmer switch, allowing you to change the level of lighting to create near enough any atmosphere.

Additional Extras

There are certain little extras that can be added to any dining space that will freshen the area up and add a touch of luxe to things. For now, let’s focus on flowers and drinkware. A bright bunch of flowers can add color and vibrancy to the table. Avoid lilies or other plants that are likely to drop pollen, as this could end up in your food or drink. A range of drinkware that exceeds the standard glass tumbler and ceramic mug adds sophistication. Latte glasses, wine glasses and champagne flutes can be added to the table to fit the requirements of any occasion.

These are just a few different areas to focus on, but there are plenty of other ways to spruce up your dining space. Regardless of your taste, you should focus on improving this area of your home, as it will be used not only for personal meals but social occasions too. So do your best to impress!
