Job Description

Our Goal:
Win the World Cups in 2022 and 2023 and sustained success thereafter.
To deliver against this inspiring goal we are changing how we work and investing heavily to create a team of exceptional people capable of creating winning England Teams. Over the next 3 years we are building the team at our world-class training facilities at St George’s Park in Staffordshire.
The Role:
The primary objective of the role is to support the delivery of a world leading Physiotherapy service to England Women’s Development teams across all age groups (U20 Next Gen (U23)-U15); but with a primary focus on the Next Gen (U23)-U18.  This service will support the coaching and Talent Identification processes and will provide performance advantages through optimal availability of players.
The successful candidates will assist in the development of FA Medical policies and issues across all levels of Football, as well as being responsible for the delivery of world leading physiotherapy and other therapy services to other development teams as required.
Key elements of the roles will include:
  • Support the delivery of an excellent physiotherapy service to England Women’s development teams which includes assessment / screening and the delivery of rehabilitation and manual therapies.
  • Deliver world class physiotherapy to Women’s professional developments phase teams (U23-U15) on international camps, with an expectation to be on the road for at most approximately 120 days per year.
  • Be based at St Georges Park on a full time basis when not on camp working as key member of the Medical Services team, working closely with the coaching staff and team operations staff.
  • Assist in the management of consultant physiotherapists if required.
  • Assist in the development of guidelines, policies and related educational content for all aspects of performance medicine across the game
  • Ensure a close working relationships with Women’s national coaches and support staff to ensure a cohesive multi-disciplinary approach at all times
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with peers in professional clubs for international players at professional development phase (U23-U15). Ensuring high level of communication with clubs on a regular basis, with clubs visits when necessary.
  • Assist in the leadership and delivery of key internal and external research projects which underpin future service development and the development of policies and guidelines for the whole game
  • Contribute to working and steering groups which underpin  key strategic aims
  • Develop and maintain an extensive network of organisations and individuals outside football with whom to share and develop best practice
  • Executes additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities
The Person:

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following skills and experience:
  • Chartered physiotherapist with HCPC registration.
  • Extensive employment/experience as a Physiotherapist in a full-time professional sports environment or with a professional/semi-professional team
  • Excellent academic and applied knowledge of contemporary practice in Physiotherapy & rehabilitation
  • Track record of successfully integrating into established and developing coaching teams
  • Excellent Physiotherapy and rehabilitation delivery skills
  • Good planning skills and flexibility – along with a willingness to learn
In addition, candidates would ideally need to possess the following:
  • Experience in International sports other than Football
  • Experience in International or Club Football
  • Be a member of the ACPSEM – or show an extensive CPD portfolio
  • Hold a relevant post graduate qualification – IE Masters
  • Have experience teaching/lecturing at a University level
You will also demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills with internal and external stakeholders. You will display behaviours to maintain and enhance good relationships which will help develop The FA’s positive professional profile across the business and wider industry.
