THE PLOT IN BRIEF-
The year is 2034. Madhavi is one among group of five friends, fresh out of engineering college, who land jobs in different cities of Iddis. But before their lives can take off, war comes. In a series of sudden, blinding flashes of light, millions of lives are lost, incinerated in the fiery heat of a nuclear exchange that threatens to end the human race forever. At first, it seems Madhavi is the only one left alive in a world that has been devastated by global conflict. With nuclear fallout set to eliminate any survivors, finding sanctuary seems impossible, until she is rescued to Shunya, where begins a life she never wanted to live. A post-apocalyptic novel and a war and survival fiction.
THE TITLE-
The title is perfect and very apt for the book. Don’t most astrophysicists now predict some “end of the line” – an end to it all? Not just the death of things, but the annihilation of everything. Some great contraction, or collapse. Or, perhaps, some vast dissipation into eternal emptiness. Maybe it’s all swallowed up by an immense black hole, which then swallows itself. But, whatever the case, their extinction is inevitable and absolute. So complete as to erase any and all evidence that this reality – this existence – ever took place. So complete that, perhaps, for all intents and purposes, it never really did. The author perfectly plots the title with respect to the backdrop, making the script feel like When the sky explodes, trees will be left standing on their head, and you shall marvel at the color of their sorrow as you gaze up at the sky above.
REVIEW OF THE BOOK-
It is said that Each cell within its atom is a raw, formless idea that exists beyond mortality. It is the wild state constantly creating your world, the one word in a collective equation that is you becoming written from nothing into something — and so it knows, ultimately, annihilation is an essential instrument of becoming new to all that can be known. The plot is not only composed of pieces of science fictions, but events beyond it. Imagine you’re a fish, swimming in a pond. You can move forward and back, side to side, but never up out of the water. If someone were standing beside the pond, watching you, you’d have no idea they were there. To you, that little pond is an entire universe. Now imagine that someone reaches down and lifts you out of the pond. You see that what you thought was the entire world is only a small pool. You see other ponds. Trees. The sky above. You realize you’re a part of a much larger and more mysterious reality than you had ever dreamed of.
The characters Madhvi and Aarav were brilliantly expressed. One of the things I’ve always liked about science fiction is the way it makes you think about things, and look at things from angles you’d never have thought about before.
As an epilogue I would lime to mention that the future is unwritten. there are best case scenarios. There are worst-case scenarios. Both of them are great fun to write about if you’ re a science fiction novelist, but neither of them ever happens in the real world. What happens in the real world is always a sideways-case scenario. World-changing marvels to us, are only wallpaper to our children.
