Book Review of ‘Let the game Begin’
Author: Sandeep Sharma
Genre: Fiction, Thriller Paperback: 180 pages
Publisher: INSPIRE INDIA (2016)
Two kingdoms, Chaturanga and Sarprakt, separated by a mystic mountain range are at war with each other since ages. Chaturanga, ruled by King Viratha, is soon bestowed with a dynamic heir, and the whole kingdom is drowned in rituals and festivity. On the other side, Sarprakt is executing a cruel conspiracy. King Viratha, crippled by the conspiracy, urges the mysterious man of the mountain to devise a method to recreate the conspiracy and that gave birth to ‘The Game of Chess’. Serial killings shock the nation as the police are rendered clueless. The killer leaves behind a trail of Chess pieces with a strange message. Random people are murdered. Connoisseurs of different fields – History, Chess and the Security forces – have united as the next intended victim is the most powerful person of the country. How is Chess involved in the whole scenario? How will they find a man who died 4000 years ago? Can a person defy the laws of nature? Does history really repeat itself? Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
INDEED, CHESS WAS NEVER JUST A GAME.
Let The Game Begin is one of the enthralling historical thrillers written by Sandeep Sharma. Each and every scenes are designed in such a way that it will compel the readers to leave with several questions like “what happens next” and “how did it happened?”
HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF.
The Plot is crafted beautifully using the above concept line. The evolution of the chess from just a game to reality is prominently brought about through the book.
The best part of the book is its plot, you can never pinpoint why this happened. To add something more, there is no leakage and you will thoroughly enjoy going pack in the past and again coming back to the present.
The twists, the journey from past to present, the vengeance, and the taste of “CHECKMATE” accompanied by a bit of humour will leave you dumbstruck.
A special mention goes to the author for the perfect timing of introducing the characters. Most of us hate History as a subject. But trust me, this thriller will make you believe that history is not as we read as SUBJECT, but it is a JOURNEY which we still live. I was completely glued to the book as the plot occupied my neurons to find out more about the serial killer or rather the Chess Man. I loved the way the chess has been used as a key tool to find the culprit. The climax was really shocking when the mystery was revealed.
