To make 2021 happier should be on everyone’s agenda
Who wouldn’t like to make 2021 Happier than the year before? What a weird question, you may say, after the most chaotic year we can remember, due to the pandemic. But happiness goes much further than a pandemic or anything else that pushes you out of your comfort zone.
As a matter of fact, the default human emotion is happiness. It’s only when things get in the way of happiness that you fail to experience it.
How many people really focus on making each year a happy year? Not many. Luckily, it doesn’t take a lot to have a good year filled with more good memories and fewer annoyances.
Make 2021 happier than the previous year with these strategies:
Clutter is stressful and annoying. Being annoyed is stressful, too!
Clutter can be embarrassing, and it makes things harder to find when you need them. Some can, or at least say they can deal with clutter. Others say that clutter makes you feel like your life is out of control. Luckily, with effective routines, clutter can be easy to avoid.
Get rid of the things you don’t need. Humans are often victims of consumption habits created to get you to buy more. Every now and then, I go through my wardrobe. Garment after garment goes through the same procedure.
Have I used this for the last 3 years?
Is it likely I’m going to use it during the next coming year?
If the answer is “no” to both questions, I just get rid of them.
Every time I do this, I get quite a lot of good clothes to give away to organizations, looking after that they come to people who need them more than what I do.
If you use something, put it away when you’re done. Spend five minutes tidying up the living areas before you go to bed.
Address all the things that annoy you.
Fix, address, or get rid of everything that annoys you. Avoid allowing these things, people, and situations to linger in your life.
The entrance of smartphones into our lives gives us a tremendous opportunity to be organized without a lot of effort. But, how does reality look like? The address book on your phone is a mess. Besides not finding a particular number or address when you need It the most, many of your contacts appear in many different ways.
Take a weekend, clean it up, and start using your smartphone in a disciplined and organized way. It will be a surprise when you notice how your efficiency will improve by only being organized.
Talking about getting rid of things that annoy you, we talk about things and persons in your life. Take care of your real friends, and fade out relationships with people who give negative vibes.
Limit the amount of time you spend criticizing, condemning, and complaining
The same way you select the people you would like to hang out with, you should create a mindset around everything that deals with criticism and complaints. We do not always have the same opinion about things. Respect and a willingness to understand the other person’s perspective are essential fundamentals in a good relationship.
In the classical book by Dale Carnegie, “How to Win Friends and Influence People,” one of the cardinal rules is “Don’t criticize, condemn, or complain.”
This is a simple rule that’s challenging to put into practice, but you’ll be more likable and even like yourself more. You’ll reap benefits from both qualities. By applying this rule, you will make 2021 happier by default.
Treat your Money with respect. Money that is spent wisely can do beautiful things for your life. Money spent unwisely is a wasted resource. Think of all the things you’ve purchased but later regretted. It would be nice to have that money now.
I love this quote by Dave Ramsey:
“We buy things we don’t need with money we don’t have to impress people we don’t like.”
In a way t’s a good description of the consumer environment we as humans have created.
Make a clear distinction between consumables expenses and investments.
For example, investing in education to learn something you know you will need to accomplish with your long-term goals and dreams. Sooner or later, there will be a return on such an investment.
However, buying a car will always be an expense. I don’t say that you shouldn’t buy a car (if you need one) but think about the money you’re going to spend, as you will find a car market with a wide range of prices.
Avoid additional debt
This is another aspect of spending wisely. Debt is stressful. Avoid adding more debt to your life, and you’ll be likely to have a better year.
Especially during these turbulent pandemic times, running into debts could be a tragic mistake. I use to say that buying something without having the money and therefore opt for a debt situation is like peeing in your pants. It’s warm and pleasant in the beginning when you, for example, purchase your brand new car. But, it quickly turns into something cold and unpleasant.
Use your brain for thinking, not remembering
It’s silly to use your brain to remember things when you could free up your mental resources by writing yourself a note and putting your attention on more important matters.
Write things down. Record lists on your phone. Use reminders and timers.
If we now have these fantastic tools, like smartphones, constructively use them, and not only to send funny memes to your friends.
Have a plan for each day
Make the most of each day by having a plan in place before you go to bed. You’ll accomplish more, and what you achieve will be more meaningful.
Spending 15 minutes before going to sleep could help you to save hours the next day. When you plan for the next day, your brain is still working at a relatively high speed. It can easily relate and organize everything you have to do tomorrow.
To work, or whatever you are up to, will often turn out in a messy day without a plan. To randomly do things without any deeper thought-trough just doesn’t work.
Eat at least one super healthy meal each day
Even one extremely healthy meal will boost your health and sense of well-being tremendously. It also provides the opportunity later to step up to two nutritious meals per day.
We all are different, but I have found out that a healthy breakfast is fundamental to get my day on the right track. This article doesn’t pretend to go into the health niche, as it requires much more serious analysis and explanation.
The only goal with these lines is to highly recommend you to quit all junk food. It’s like a drug for your body. It can be tasty immediately, but you will ruin your day and your performance in the long run.
Make some exciting plans
You’ll have a better year and make 2021 happier if you have something positive to focus on in the future. It doesn’t matter if it’s a trip, a new canoe, or plans to reconnect with a dear friend that you haven’t seen in a while.
A balanced life can never lock out the fun part. After all, we all are waking up every morning to have fun. Or do you have a different mission? For many years, I use a motto that always works for me to fully understand the necessary balance in life.
Pride, earnings, and fun
You must be proud of what you’re doing, otherwise, your life will be miserable. Like it or not, but you need to earn money. Whatever your hobby or leisure activity is, it costs money. The rest, and hopefully a summary of pride and earnings, is just having fun.
Try to create your personal statement mixed with your personality and goals in life.
Cut the worst person in your life out of your life.
If possible, remove the most negative influence from your life. You might have to find a new boss or have a difficult conversation. Someone in your life is likely making your life worse.
During the pandemic we are living in right now, the labor market is uncertain. Will the company you’re working for even exist next month. Many of this type of questions is getting people to search for alternatives. Combining a “working-from-home” mode brings people to research what kinds of Internet businesses are possible.
Coronavirus doesn’t yet make traveling easy. Even hanging out with friends is becoming complicated. So, while staying at home, take a look at what different alternatives exist for starting an online business. Can you imagine yourself as your own boss?
Make 2021 Happier
“The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday’s logic.”
Consider the mistakes you made this past year and avoid them this year
Look over the last year and identify your mistakes. Develop a strategy to ensure that
you don’t have a repeat performance. Take a moment when nothing special to do. Try to list all things during 2020 that didn’t turn out the way you wanted. Also, make a note of what you think was the reason. Of course, Coronavirus is a reason for most that went wrong last year. However, make notes on what you did and what you could have done differently.
When passing through difficult times as we are doing right now, it’s crucial to make yourself accountable.
People around the world are now talking about how the “new normal” will look like. The good thing is that most people agree that we never will return back to “the normal” of before.
The sad part is that too many still try to create their “new normal” with “yesterday’s logic.” Think about it for a while, and if you never have done it before, now it’s time to think out of the box.
Create a second source of income.
Few people complain of having too much money. A second source of income adds a lot of potential to your life. The first step to having a good year is to set an intention to have a good year.
Remove the annoyances, get rid of the clutter, and make some plans that put a smile on your face. It doesn’t take a lot to have a better year than last year. Repeat this process each year, and you’ll be surprised by how happy you can be.
It’s a real reality that in the last year of this horrible pandemic, the number of independent entrepreneurs has increased like never before. Not necessarily you have to lose your job to start searching for new alternatives.
The fact that the entire market is unstable and shaky also induces people to look for something they can do part-time. Searching for a second source of income becomes something widespread in today’s environment.
It’s a way of building and stand on a second leg to become better prepared if the worst should happen. A third group of people finds out that their own business online gives more than their daily corporate job. They quit their 9-5 job and go all-in with their business.
Whatever category you belong to, you should definitely take a look at this. It’s an “All-In Package” that could change all previous thoughts you have had so far.
