What is Affiliate marketing?
Affiliate marketing was born a long time ago, but it has been a Boom in this recent years. Companies such as Amazon, Ebay, Apple, Groupon and others, have been using the benefits of affiliate marketing with a lot of success.

So, How does affiliate marketing really work?
The process consists in promoting Product or services from other companies. You drive traffic to the website of the company, and if your referrals end up buying something, you get a commission instantly. These go from 4% to 10% in places such as Amazon and even higher in places like CJ, JVZoo or Clickbank (between 25% to 50%).
In other words, it’s the job of a sales officer but 90% online. For example: if you promote an iPhone 6 offered in Amazon at $685, and somebody buys through your affiliate link, you earn a commission of 5% of total sale = $34.25.
As you might know, there a lot of companies with affiliate programs and the number keeps increasing over the years. Some of the top affiliate programs are:
- Amazon
- Ebay
- Best Buy
- JVZoo
- Commission Junction (CJ)
- ClickBank
If you don’t find the product you need to promote, you can just place a Google Search like this: “Product Name + Affiliate Program”. Doing this, you will find an infinity of products to promote.
Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest ways to start with an online business. It can be done on a part-time (if you don’t have too much time to spend on it) or Full-time basis (as most of the successful marketers do).
What Do I need to get started with Affiliate marketing?
My plan and recommendation is to start only with 2 things: a website and a hosting
This is just for a very basic but decent start. After your business gets stable and grows, you can include Email Marketing Tools, Paid Keyword tools, advertising (PPC) / (CPA), etc.

When I first started online, I only used a Website and a Hosting. Not a huge investment but definitely a good start as I made my first affiliate sale in just 1 month for $65.
With my first commissions, I reinvested in my online business. I bought and email marketing service (Aweber) and a Keyword Research tool license (Jaaxy and Long Tail Pro). This was definitely my best decision as these tools made my product promotions a lot easier, leading to an increase in sales and earnings.
So, my recommendation is: start low and go bigger once you start earning money. Just to provide you with real statistics, if you work correctly and continuously, on average, a website requires at least 4 to 6 months to get established on search engines. Why do I say this? Because it will not outrank if you just create one blog post or page once every 3 months. You have to dedicate some work on it and create at least 2-3 articles a week.
If creating a website is not for you, you can start with just a landing page and a PPC campaign. A Very low budget needed on this.

A critical aspect of Affiliate Marketing that I want you to remember forever is that you should promote products that are of excellent quality and best if you have tried it out before.
Consider that your reputation is in line and it can be easily judged by your audience. The more helpful your recommendations are, the more engaged audience you will get. That’s the key of Affiliate Marketing.
