Don’t we all love those cool Maxi tops? Everyone is seen flaunting these comfy tops in their own unique ways. And somewhere in our minds, we also want to own them, style them and flaunt them (Don’t we?).

So here I am with some easy styling tips for you all to wear those maxi tops and look chic and trendy.

Types of maxi tops

You get so many different types of maxi tops these days. There are simple ones, there are ones with a slit (either on the sides or in the front), there are ones with multiple slits. You get a lot of maxi tops using a combination of clothing material as well. And yes of course, you get different necklines, sleeves, length and print as well. When you go shopping, make sure you try on the tops first and buy the ones that make you look and feel comfortable. Don’t just buy something because it’s the trend or everyone is buying it. You don’t want to buy something you don’t feel confident wearing.

What bottoms to pair?

Now this is the interesting part. Maxi tops are very versatile to style and hence you tend to fall in love with these. If you have a simple maxi top, you can pair it with leggings, jeggings or any other pants. If you have the maxi tops with slits, you have even more options for pairing these. Apart from the usual pants and leggings/ jeggings, you can pair the top with shorts, skirts, palazzos, joggers or even patiala pants. Depending on the occasion and the desired look you want to create, you can pair different bottoms and look trendy in your favourite maxi top.

Colour co-ordination

Now that we know how versatile these maxi tops are to style, let us see how we can play with the colour scheme when pairing the maxi tops with different bottoms.

– For a simple look, you can pair same/ similar coloured bottoms.

– For some fun, pair contrast colours or you can even try creating a colour block look.

– You can even try adding some sequins texture either in the top or bottoms, some neons for added drama.

– You can also play with prints. Try pairing two different types of prints in the top and the bottoms and see how it transforms your look.

Accessories

You will not disagree when I say that the accessories play an important role to sort of give a dimension to the overall look. So yes, play with the accessories. Pair different accessories and see how they compliment the maxi top look beautifully. Try different neckpieces, bracelets/ bangles, chunky earrings, nosepins and of course shoes and bags. I personally love pairing chunky earrings, stacked bracelets or statement neckpieces with a maxi top.

Here’s my recent look wearing a basic maxi top paired with denims and pink block heels. I added a statement neckpiece, a few colourful (thin) bracelets and a simple sling bag to complete the look.
