A Southern Belle can be from anywhere, it's not geography, but mentality.
I am a woman. I am an adult. I am a wife, a sister, an aunt, a friend. I am college-educated and hard-working. But I don’t quite fit into what the world's idea of a “modern woman” has come to be, and the expectations it has. I prioritize family over finances, love over labor, and femininity above all. Therefore, I am a Southern Belle. You might not be one, but we definitely exist.
I'm not talking about the misconceptional image of a Southern Belle. Meek, obedient, repressed, and fainting every five minutes.
We take care of their partners, and value relationships more than just hookups or partying. We can have fun but at the end of the day want to come home to our partner.
We take care of themselves and the way we look, not because we want to please a man, but because we know that looking put together means the whole world takes you more seriously. Of course when my husband notices, it makes me happy.
We know how to charm anyone, not to get something, but to put people at ease.
Family is the most important part of our life, and having quality time with the people we love is essential. Weare not the kind of girls who just call family on holidays.
We are LOYAL. We would never turn on family or friends for our own gain.
Our career is not the most important thing to us. We work and can have professional, high-earning jobs, but know that a career or a promotion or an extra thousand dollars a month isn’t going to be what keeps usreally happy or makes life worth living.
We are not afraid to get dirty, to do hard work, and be “one of the guys” when it’s needed. We realize our pretty little nails can easily be repainted.
We don’t care if we are considered too “traditional”. We are happy to live the life wehave, and be who we are.
