10 Cooking Hacks To Make Your Life Easier In The Kitchen


We all know homemade food is healthier than takeaways or street snacking. Still many of us place order from restaurants almost every day as it takes a lot of time to prepare food at home.

But you can cut the preparation time while cooking your meal by following some simple trick shared below:

1. Cut vegetables on weekends: Everyone runs out of time during week days. Chop onions and other vegetables on weekends while watching your favorite shows so that it becomes easy for you to cook during week days.

2. Peel potatoes after boiling them: Instead of wasting your time with a peeler to remove the skin from potatoes. First boil the potatoes, put them in bowl of cold water and peel them.

3. Use a slow cooker: The slow cooker can be your best friend when it comes to hands-off cooking. Place some ingredients in overnight or in the morning before work, and you’ll find a meal waiting for you in the morning or when you get home.

4. Freeze cheese before grating: It is very difficult to grate soft cheeses such as mozzarella. Put it in the freezer for 30 minutes before you grate it. This works best when you plan to cook the cheese later.

5. Peel garlic in the microwave: This sounds strange. However, it becomes easy to peel garlic after you heat its head in the microwave for 20 seconds as the cloves will slide out easily.

6. Use brown paper bag to speed up ripening: If you want to ripen fruits or anything else, keep them in a brown paper bag. When fruit ripens, it releases a gas called ethylene. The bag traps this gas, allowing the fruit to ripen quicker.

7. Freeze herbs in olive oil: If you do not want to waste fresh herbs, freeze them in an ice cube tray with some olive oil for a quick dash of flavor next time you make a stir fry. This helps preserve the herbs.

8. Slice cherry and tomatoes at one go: It is time consuming to slice cherries and tomatoes if you do them one by one. Place your tomatoes between two tupperware lids and run the knife through the space between the lids, slicing all tomatoes at once.

9. Make hard-boiled eggs in oven: Place eggs in a muffin tin and bake them for 30 minutes at 325 degrees to make creamy hard-boiled eggs. This trick will be very helpful when you want to prepare a large quantity for the rest of the week.

10. Preserve your own salad dressing: Prepare your own salad dressing and store it in mason jars in the fridge. You’ll have a quick option on hand when you make salads at home.
