Blogmas Day 15: BloggersTribe Christmas Tag

Tags: christmas

Day 15 of blogmas brings us a new Christmas Tag created by the BloggersTribe team for us all to learn more about other bloggers, and today is my turn to share it here on my blog with you! It’s Friday again, and so I’m snuggling up tonight to watch the 1970 Santa Claus Is Coming To Town film! It’s less than an hour long, so it shouldn’t take too long to watch. I’m quite enjoying this Film Countdown this year! Are you?

So back to the tag. I love taking part in tags! In fact, it’s been exactly a year to the day since I last wrote a Christmas Tag post! So we’ll start with the rules.

Rules

  • Put on our Christmas Playlist on Spotify to listen to while answering!
  • Answer our 12 questions
  • Add 2 questions of your own
  • Have a Christmas drink and/or snack
  • Tag 4 more bloggers to take part
  • Take a picture in your favourite Christmas jumper and send it to us for our Round Up post! We want to see everyone who takes part! (Photo doesn’t have to include your face if you don’t want it to – just take a pic of your jumper )

Standard Questions:

  1. When do you start thinking about Christmas? To be honest, Christmas is nearly an all year round thing for me! Although, I do tend to go properly into “Christmas Mode” after Rachel’s birthday so 19th September.
  2. What has been your most memorable Christmas present to date (good or bad!)?There are so many to choose from for so many different reasons! One that really sticks out in my mind is the year Rachel and I got new Bratz dolls and they were the ice skating ones. I can’t actually remember their clothes, which dolls they were, or any of that information, but what I do remember is putting on the CD player and playing on the floor of the living room for what seemed like hours! To be honest it was probably only about half an hour before we had to go out, but that wasn’t the point.  So I’m going to say that would be my most memorable Christmas present to date.
  3. Do you have any Christmas traditions?  Yes! In fact, I wrote a full post on these traditions last year! It can be found here. All I know is that Christmas isn’t the same without some sort of tradition, and now that Rachel and I have moved out we’re going to have to figure out new traditions! Some of our old traditions include putting the tree up the first weekend of December, creating a chore rota for the last few days before Christmas, and then the Christmas Eve into Christmas Day family tradition of the rugby club, a casserole for dinner, and the midnight service at church while someone granny-sits.
  4. Which Christmas film is the greatest of them all? For me, the greatest Christmas film of them all is different to my actual favourite film. Does that make sense? So for my favourite, I’ll go with The Santa Clause starring Tim Allen. As for the greatest Christmas film of them all? Well then that’s where I have to vote for Love Actually. This cannot be disputed. Well, it can be… but be prepared for me to back up my claims! Shall we move this discussion to the comments section?
  5. You have an empty seat at your table on Christmas Day – who do you invite and why? Can be absolutely anyone!  Okay for nostalgia’s sake, I would be inviting all my dead relatives. However, if I could truly invite anyone to dinner for Christmas Day, I think I would be inviting either Obama or Michael Bublé – two very different people for two very different reasons!
  6. Where in your house does your Christmas Tree go each year? Well at home we have a bay window in the living room, so that’s where the tree sits. In my own flat, I’ve been toying with a few different places, but I think the corner at the end of my sofa is going to be the winning spot. I think… maybe my bedroom?
  7. Name the top 3 songs on your Christmas Party Playlist Last Christmas, Mistletoe and Wine, and Merry Christmas Everyone! Although I am currently loving the Bloggers Tribe Christmas Playlist on Spotify!
  8. Who is the hardest person you’ve ever had to buy a Christmas present for? Believe it or not it was Rachel last year! I think I went a bit over the top when buying her birthday presents, and then I left myself a bit stuck for her Christmas. In fact, I can’t even remember what I got her!
  9. When do you eat your Christmas dinner, and what all is on your menu? Haha now you’re asking… Christmas is one of those days we tend to not stop eating. Breakfast is normally light and quick, but we have scrambled egg with smoked salmon through it on either a bagel or muffin as an early lunch, and then we see family for drinks and nibbles. We tend to start eating about 3pm on Christmas day with a starter of either Bloody Mary soup or a pork terrine and salad. Around 4 or 4:30 (depending on the turkey) we sit down to our main course of turkey, ham, roast potatoes, carrot and parsnip, stuffings, brussel sprouts, pigs in blankets, and gravy! I love to have some homemade cranberry sauce with it all too. Then we leave it a while before we have our Christmas pudding and/or Trifle – both are made but you can have either or both. Last year Dad overdid the brandy in the brandy custard, but it was still delicious! We make our own Christmas puddings too. Then later we’ll have a cheeseboard and maybe slice the Christmas cake, and anyone who can possibly consider food after all this can tuck into the Celebrations tins at the end of the day.
  10. What’s your favourite Christmas related quote?“Christmas – that magic blanket that wraps itself about us, that something so intangible that it is like a fragrance. It may weave a spell of nostalgia. Christmas may be a day of feasting, or of prayer, but always it will be a day of remembrance – a day in which we think of everything we have ever loved.” – Augusta E. RundelActually last year I wrote a full post of Christmas quotes! Which is your favourite?
  11. Are you a wrapping paper person, or boxes and bags? Or are you a mix? I am awful at wrapping, but I still love to give it a go! So I wrap my presents, and only if they look awful will I put them in a bag or box. It also looks so much more fun to have lots of wrapped presents under the tree!
  12. What makes Christmas so special to you? You know, with my constant obsession with Christmas, you’d think I’d have an answer to this question. But I genuinely don’t. I think it has something to do with that sense of magic and wonder in the air. Even the world’s worst Scrooges can’t help but smile when they see a little kid getting excited over a Santa present, and that to me is the magic of Christmas.

My added questions are:

  1. What is one Christmas accessory you simply have to have?
  2. Do you have a favourite Christmas drink?

Take a break, you’ve earned it! Grab a gingerbread flavoured hot chocolate and a mince pie!
