In the world of political theater, nothing dominates quite as much as a perfectly timed fundraising ploy. And last night, Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton did just that, capitalizing off Republican rival Donald Trump’s “woman’s card” comment by offering her supporters a woman card of their very own.

At a news conference Tuesday at Trump Tower, the business mogul told reporters, “If Hillary Clinton were a man, I don’t think she’d get 5 percent of the vote,” adding the only qualification the former Secretary of State/First Lady/Senator has “going is the woman’s card.”
“And the beautiful thing is, women don’t like her,” Trump added.
“Mr. Trump accused me of playing the woman card,” Clinton said at a campaign rally Tuesday night. “Well, if fighting for women’s health care and Paid Family leave and equal pay is playing the woman card, then deal me in.”
Doubling down on his comments, Trump told “Morning Joe” Wednesday he hadn’t “quite recovered” from Clinton “shouting that message.”
“I guess I’ll have to get used to a lot of that over the next four or five months,” Trump concluded.
Clinton’s campaign responded to Trump on Twitter, tearing into the Republican candidate for his positions on paid Family Leave and medical care.
“Hillary can handle these attacks, millions of women shouldn’t have to,” Clinton’s camp said. “Women still face too many barriers—a president shouldn’t be part of the problem. Comments like Trump’s set us back. Trump’s rhetoric is just the beginning. He’s dismissed equal pay. Wouldn’t support paid family leave. Would defund Planned Parenthood.”
And yesterday evening, Clinton sent an email to supporters, telling supporters if they donate, the campaign will “send you your very own Official Hillary Clinton for America Woman Card.” The card also borrows from Clinton’s response to Trump’s original attack inviting donors to “deal me in.”
Your move, Trump.
