14 Valentine gift ideas for him

Let’s face it, Valentine’s day is more for women. We are spoiled and we know it! But that doesn’t mean we can’t make our men feel loved and wooed too. Here are some great ideas any man would Love to receive this year.

Lets start easy.. FOOD! Hey- they say that is the quickest way to a man’s heart, is thru his stomach.

Pick out his favorite kind, or get crazy and make your own. Add a cute note, reminding him that he is your bag-o-chips! Put them in his desk drawer, lunchbox or front seat of his car for a cute snack and a smile.

Pick up his favorite kind of muffin and surprise him with a cute breakfast to start the day right, and letting him know you still think he is the stud muffin you fell in love with.

If you have a sweetheart with a sweet tooth, here is an amazing Chocolate mousse recipe that will knock his boots off!

Chocolate Lovers Mousse

Makes 8 servings Active Time 45 min Total Time7 hr

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups chilled heavy cream
  2. 4 large egg yolks
  3. 3 tablespoons sugar
  4. 1 teaspoon vanilla
  5. 7 oz fine-quality bittersweet chocolate (not unsweetened), chopped
  6. Garnish: lightly sweetened whipped cream
  7. an instant-read thermometer

Heat 3/4 cup cream in a 1-quart heavy saucepan until hot. Whisk together yolks, sugar, and a pinch of salt in a metal bowl until combined well, then add hot cream in a slow stream, whisking until combined. Transfer mixture to saucepan and cook over moderately low heat, stirring constantly, until it registers 160°F on thermometer. Pour custard through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl and stir in vanilla. Melt chocolate in a double boiler or a metal bowl set over a pan of simmering water (or in a glass bowl in a microwave at 50 percent power 3 to 5 minutes), stirring frequently. Whisk custard into chocolate until smooth, then cool. Beat remaining 1 1/4 cups cream in a bowl with an electric mixer until it just holds stiff peaks. Whisk one fourth of cream into chocolate custard to lighten, then fold in remaining cream gently but thoroughly. Spoon mousse into 8 (6-ounce) stemmed glasses or ramekins and chill, covered, at least 6 hours. Let stand at room temperature about 20 minutes before serving.

Cooks’ notes: • Mousse can be chilled up to 1 day. • To vary the flavor, you can replace the 1 teaspoon vanilla with 2 teaspoons instant-espresso powder (dissolve it in the hot cream) or 3 tablespoons Grand Marnier or 2 tablespoons Cognac (either one whisked into strained custard).

NOW- lets move past the food! (wipes drool from face dreaming of mousse)

A keychain with a sweet saying, your initials or even your anniversary is a small sweet thought that they can take everywhere you go, to remind them that you are somewhere, loving them.

Everyone, especially men, love hearing why you like, love or adore them. Jot down 52 wonderful things you love about them, and they can open one a week for an entire year!

Or- if you are like me and my man, we love to play cards! We always carry a deck with us and play during a dinner date, at the park or anywhere! Turn a deck into 52 reasons why you like (or love) them and they can flip thru it as often as they like.

Another great way to build that perfect gift is picking out his favorite things, like jack and coke, or beer, or coffee and flavorings and wrap them into a shape of a cake. Add some flowers for a soft side and wow them with a tower of awesomeness!

Or- make a basket with all of their favorite things, or fill it with new things to try from different countries together for an adventure you don’t have to travel for.

For a fast and cheap gift, make some cute stickers and slap ’em on a 6 pack and each beer, add a pizza and you got a dinner date

If your man is a grill king, pick up some new utensils or grill gear with a few nice steaks and ask him to give you a personal grill lesson!

If nothing above sounds like it would get your man smiling, a safe gift for any man is TOOLS! Even if he has one of everything, there is nothing a man loves more than to play with new tools.

If you want to give your guy options, create a coupon book with free massages, dinner, movie, bowling, romantic evenings (wink) or whatever he is in to most. Make sure to put things in there he can even do without you, like guitar lessons or a night out with the boys (guilt free).

Make a cute card with an idea of what’s in store for the evening! Make it simple like this one, or make it a treasure hunt with little gifts along the way!

Last but not least- lingerie it up girls! Dress up and play out one of his favorite fantasies and show him the affection he deserves but doesn’t always get. Make it all about him and slather your love all over him! (Rawr)

Now go get that man some V-Day fun!
