The Peoples Democratic Party has named Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State Chairman of its forthcoming National Convention Committee.
His Taraba State counterpart, Mr. Darius Ishaku, is to serve as deputy chairman while Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, will serve as secretary of the National Convention Committee.
A statement on Sunday by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, said the committee would be inaugurated by the National Chairman of the party, Ali Modu-Sheriff, in a ceremony at the national secretariat of the party on Tuesday.
Other committees also to be inaugurated by Mr. Sheriff on Tuesday are Reconciliation, Finance and Zoning to be chaired by Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr. Seriake Dickson; Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo; and Akwa-Ibom State Governor, Mr. Emmanuel Udom respectively.
Their respective deputies are former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ibrahim Mantu; Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio while Mr. Kelechi Igwe is to serve as Secretary of the Zoning Committee headed by Gov. Udom.
Our correspondent reports that the PDP National Convention has been tentatively fixed for May 21.
