This is so sad.

A Los Angeles man is dead after his Father allegedly killed him over being gay, according to police and prosecutors.

Shehada Khalil Issa, 69, has been arrested after allegedly shooting his son, 29-year-old Amir Issa, pictured above, at their North Hills home in a Los Angeles neighborhood on Friday.

The older man’s 68-year-old wife was also found dead of gunshots in the home.

The father, who had apparently threatened to kill the son before because of the younger man’s Sexual Orientation, claimed self defense in the shooting.

However, police and prosecutors doubt that story. Homicide detective John Doerbecker said in an interview:

“The suspect made incriminating statements implicating himself in the death of [his son] and was arrested for murder.”

And the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office released a statement confirming the hate crime aspect to the muder:

“The murder was committed because of the victim’s sexual orientation and because of the defendant’s perception of that status and the victim’s association with a person and a group of that status.”

Social media posts apparently showed the father previously berating the son on video, claiming he should be “castrated” for being a “pervert.”

In fact, on March 19, Amir posted a desperate plea to Facebook, writing in part:

“I want to see Jesus. Please help rid this world of the demons that attack me. I have changed all of my life insurance and work retirement investments to go to the church I was born in.”

Right now, the father is facing one count of premeditated murder, though more charges are surely to come.

So, so, so sad.
