Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima has lauded the achievements of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government in the fight against insurgency in the country’s north east. According to him, between 2006 and 2008, about 20 local governments were under the control of Boko Haram insurgents but they have all been liberated.
“… I think by and large, we have succeeded in caging them,” the governor said, adding, however, that it was not to say attacks have totally stopped.
Shettima said his government was working hard to strengthen the economy of Borno State with focus on agriculture.
According to the governor, the greatest resource anyone can have is land and the state has it in abundance. He also said the state was making women empowerment a priority and trying its best to encourage the girl-child education.
