A Whale, mistaken to be an odd creature, was just a whale feeding on a school of fish. The Bryde’s whale, which had ingested a whole school of sardines, inflated and thus was misjudged as an unusual creature.
Fernandez who had captured this moment wrote to GrindTV about his experience, wherein he told that he saw a big ball of sardines being attacked by hundreds of dolphins, along with three Bryde’s whales. Though, he wanted to capture the exact moment of the whale attack on the ball of sardines, but it was next to impossible due to their impeccable speed. He just had a second to capture the whale being inflated like a giant balloon in order to consume its feast.
According to Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society, The Bryde’s whale mainly eats schooling fish but will sometimes feed on krill and other plank-tonic crustaceans also and since it has between 40 and 70 pleats on its throat, they expand while feeding. According to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the creature weighs around 90,000 pounds and measures between 40 and 55 feet. It uses other methods like skimming the surface, lunging and creating bubble nets for feeding in its natural tropical habitat. The Bryde’s whale can dive for five to 15 minutes and reach depths of around 1,000 feet.
