Whenever I research on Meditation, I come across numerous articles describing the benefits of morning meditation. I do it extensively because I love the practice. However, I preferred evening to morning for my own reasons. Once I decided to try to change and see the benefits.
Following are the changes I began to notice within a few days after adopting the habit.
- The peace of nature flows into my mind
At dawn, when the nature is slowly waking up, there is nothing to disturb me. There are no kids to yell, no doorbells, no horns of cars, no buzzing of phone; just the quietness of nature. This lets me absorb the calmness around me. And I feel truly at rest.
I don’t meditate long, for one hour or anything as such. Just 20 minutes are more than enough for me to experience deep relaxation. It helps me prepare for the day ahead. Whatever is the struggle, I am able to stay calm. All I need to do is to take a few deep breaths.
- I start each day on a fresh note
It is often said; no two days are the same. When I meditate in the morning, I experience it. I wake up feeling fresh and energized. Taking break from yesterday and letting go of the past for me is as simple as spending 20 quiet minutes in the morning. Yes, every day is new for me; entirely different from the previous one.
- Meditation enhances my awareness
I know that my mind wanders from one thought to another in the flash of a second. Known as “the monkey mind,” this prevents me from dwelling on anything of importance. When I meditate, I become aware of my mind. It happens when I concentrate on my own breathing. This awareness of my own thoughts helps me regulate its wandering. I find it easier to control my negative thoughts. Quite naturally, I determine what I am.
- It helps me take wise decisions
Taking decisions is always tough for me. Morning meditation helps me fix this issue. I don’t have to decide on anything; just wake up and meditate for some time. The 20 quiet minutes clear my mind. It gives me the clarity of thoughts I need to take decisions. And I feel prepared to face the day ahead.
- Morning meditation reduces anxiety
I seldom suffer from stress and anxiety because of
My morning meditation. This is a fact scientists attest to. Meditation increases the feel-good hormones in the brain. I sleep better. Quite naturally, I am free from anti-depressants and other medications designed to influence the feel-good hormones.
- It protects my heart
In our fast-paced life, every day is a struggle. This may be the reason; cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death at present. Experts say that even the deaths of all cancer combined are far less than the fatalities due to cardiac troubles. And according to scientists, meditation, not medicine is the best treatment for your heart.
Finally, morning meditation improves my immunity. Research shows that meditating regularly relaxes muscles. It reduces the likelihood of breast cancer. Another study found out that daily meditation increased the number of cells capable of killing cancers. This gives me the hope that even when I am old, meditation will help me keep harmful medications at bay.
