Generalized anxiety disorder: symptoms, and Ayurvedic remedies

Anxiety is a common thing. In fact, it is good to a certain extent. It becomes dangerous only when out of control. Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is one such condition. Those suffering from the condition worry about everything they come across; even common things. For instance, a GAD patient may keep on worrying about her financial condition many times a day. According to Ayurveda, cold aggravates Vada and warmth pacifies it. You can have milk with honey and saffron before going to bed. Keeping a warm bottle of water too will help a lot. Have a warm shower.

  1. Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is an herb renowned for its ability to protect your nervous system and decrease anxiety. It may even slow ageing, say experts.

  1. Green tea

Green tea is rich in L-Theanine, an amino acid known to relieve anxiety and refresh one’s mint. Medical science too attests to this observation. Buddhists say that green tea is the secret for their ability to meditate for hours.

Home remedies do help a lot when it comes to relieving your anxiety. But remembering the following things will add up to your efforts here.

  1. Know that you are normal

Forget your clinical diagnosis. When you feel stressed, remember that you are normal. There is nothing weird or bad in your personality. Everyone gets anxious at times. The same thing is happening to you.

  1. Have a workout routine

Exercise is a must to stay fit; there is no doubt to it. But the information that it will improve mood may appear surprising. When you exercise, your body releases hormones that are responsible for improving mood. Studies show that they are as powerful as conventional medications.

You don’t have to go for go for high-impact exercises all the time. Walking for a few miles every day itself is more than enough to help you.

You should also let your friend support you during an anxiety episode. Share your feelings to your best friend or someone you feel will understand you. It will go a long way in relieving your anxiety.
