Don’t be so focused on impressing people that you forget that natural and sincere conversations are the valuable ones. Look for ways on how you can be of value to a person

This is a commonly overlooked networking aspect. If you want to invite someone into your network, you have to look for a way that you can be of value to him or her. During a conversation, ask open-ended questions to get a grasp of the things that you can bring to the table. Surely there is a way for you to help that person. When you have this thought each time you reach out, your network will grow substantially.

Master your elevator pitch

The Elevator Pitch isn’t a new idea but the ability to explain what you can offer in just 30 seconds is a handy talent. Everyone is rushing and to catch the attention of people, you must be able to succinctly communicate your vision. The “best” elevator pitch takes time to master but you will eventually get used to it.

Learn the art of introduction

When you are at an event and you already know several attendees, make sure to introduce them to each other. It is likely for them to do the same to you when the opportunity comes. Don’t forget to ask the person’s permission first before introducing him or her to others. Tell him how this particular person can be of interest to him or her.

 Show them that you are worthy to be trusted

While it is difficult to establish a powerful network, one quick way of expanding your reach is to become someone that’s easy to trust. When you are entrusted with confidential information, never share these inputs to anyone. If you know someone who can offer valuable opinions about that information, ask the originator if you can talk about it to this particular person. This might be a simple strategy but it shows what kind of person you are.
