NEW DELHI: The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) will tie up with the government of national capital territory of Delhi to set up automated Driving test centres across 10 locations in the city. Maruti Suzuki plans to set up these automated driving test centres over the next 12 months with an investment of over Rs 10 crore. The company will operate and maintain these facilities for the next three years. These test centres to comprise scientifically laid driving test tracks, advanced high definition cameras and an integrated IT network. The centres will utilise advanced video analytic technology to conduct the test and analyse the driving behaviour of the applicant. Currently, such assessment is done manually. “These centres will help improve the driving licensing issuance process by use of technology and making it error free. This will ensure a big qualitative improvement as only candidates with proper driving skills will be able to obtain the licence,” said Ranjit Singh, general manager (CSR and sustainability), Maruti Suzuki.
