The state-level sports meet organised by Dasara Sports Sub-Committee will be held from September 22 to 24 in the city.

As many as 20 events like basketball, ball badminton, gymnastics, hockey, football, have been organised. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the event atop Chamundi Hill on September 21. PWD Minister H C Mahadevappa, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Pramod Madhwaraj, MPs, MLAs and women cricketer from the state Veda Krishnamurthy and Rajeshwari Gayakwad will attend the inaugural ceremony.

Three best performers will be presented with a Cash Prize of Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 1,500 for individuals along with certificates, medals, and trophies for the winners. In addition, Rs 10,000 cash prize will be given for those who create new records. In all, as many as 20,000 participants are expected to attend. The valedictory ceremony will be held on September 24 at 4 pm.

Half marathon, cyclothon

As part of sports meet, half marathon and cyclothon have been organised on September 24 and 27 at Oval Grounds, in front of Crawford Hall and from Chamundi Vihar Stadium, respectively.

Half marathon will commence at 6.30 am and the events is organised in three categories — school and college students, men and women. Around 2,500 participants are expected to attend the event. Cash prize between Rs 6,000 and Rs 30,000 will be distributed among the winners.

PWD Minister H C Mahadevappa will flag off the cyclothon at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in the presence of cyclist Mahadev and host of people’s representatives and officials at 6.30 am on September 27. Men will cover 100 kms and women will cover 50 km, said Deputy Commissioner D Randeep. The best cyclists will be awarded with cash prize and certificates.

The DC also released posters for marathon and cyclothon on Friday.
