Let’s see what’s in this quarter’s Artza “Christmas Miracles” themed box!

Everything was shipped in an olive green box with the Artza logo printed in white.

A peek inside!

The 2-sided info sheet above revealed this quarter’s destination — which actually consisted of four different locations (Bethlehem, Nazareth, the Galilee, and Jerusalem) — and included interesting facts, photos, and even a few English to Hebrew translations.

An additional information packet included 4 product information cards, a scenic postcard, and a recipe.

Individual product information cards provided background info on each company/artisan and details on how best to utilize the items.

This quarter’s postcard featured The Garden Tomb — the place where many believe to be where Jesus was crucified. It’s located a short walk outside of Jerusalem’s Damascus Gates and has become a special spot for people to pray and meditate.

Each box also includes a different traditional recipe, this time for “Crinkle Carob Cookies” — which utilizes the carob syrup shown later in this review.

Finally, a separate info card listed all of the items I’d find in this quarter’s box.

Alma’Soap Luxury Winter Body Butter

My hands are always super dry during these cold winter months, so a good quality body butter is always appreciated. Not only does the product above smell amazing (vanilla + lavender!) but it’s also made with 100% natural ingredients. Alma’Soap was founded by a mom (Adi) who was having trouble finding skincare products that she would feel comfortable using on her daughter (Alma). After having no luck, she decided to create her own and Alma’Soap was born! Her Winter Body Butter contains olive oil sourced from the olive trees in her back yard, Mediterranean lavender, and a blend of other natural essential oils and butters.

Fenster’s Handmade Lavender Toffee

Oded Fenster — a former professional basketball player — is now following his second dream of becoming an artisanal chocolate maker. After honing his craft in Belgium 18 years ago, he returned to Israel to produce premium chocolates, toffees, marzipans, and more. His company takes pride in employing young adults with developmental challenges including down syndrome and autism. The toffee above features the unique addition of Mediterranean lavender to complement the creamy taste of traditional toffee.

IsraCandle Sea of Galilee Topographical Candle

Candlemaker Goren Sarid creates his unique topographical candles in Efrat, a small town south of Jerusalem & Bethlehem. After experimenting with creating miniature terrains using a 3D printer, he found that candles make a great medium for giving one a sense for the landscape and a deeper connection to the land. The candle above represents a topographical rendition of the Sea of Galilee — one of the most significant water sources in all of Israel. It’s almost too neat to burn!

Conscious Carob Syrup

Before vegan chocolate was widely available, I was all about carob. (My favorite treat to make was homemade carob chip cookies. So good!) While I’m very familiar with carob in solid form, I have to admit that I’ve never tried carob syrup before. Apparently, it’s great for drizzling on yogurt and can be used in baked goods, salad dressings, sauces, and more. This particular syrup was made by a collective who supports Jews, Christians, and Muslim women working together in equality & mutual respect.

Olive Wood Nativity Ornament

The olive wood nativity ornament above was handcrafted by a local Bethlehem craftsman named George Shatara. George’s amazing talent allows him to create stunningly intricate carvings that portray meaningful stories from the Bible and Holy Land. The beautiful nativity in the photos above was made from a 400-year-old olive tree!

Star of David Christmas Ornament

This quarter’s box also included a second hand-carved olive wood ornament. The star of David piece above was made by the same artisan as the nativity ornament and features the word “Bethlehem” handwritten in black ink. A gold string is attached for easy hanging.

Israeli Winter Nights Herbal Tea Blend

The herbal tea above is made with three simple ingredients: Dried hyssop, dried sage, and dried zuta (a sweet, minty herb). — It’s actually the same blend that was enjoyed by Israelites during the Biblical period 2 thousand years ago! The blend consists of herbs that were locally grown on a family farm just outside of Nazareth.

Hebrew Table Blessing Runner

Premium Box subscribers also received this exclusively designed Hebrew blessing table runner. The runner is made of a heat-insulated material that’s wrinkle-free and easy to clean. It features a pretty watercolor design with flowers, vines, and colorful birds that surround a Hebrew blessing that reads “Blessed are you, our God, who feeds the entire world through Your goodness, with kindness and graciousness”.

The “Christmas Miracles” themed Artza box contained a unique collection of artisan-crafted products chosen to take you on a journey across four of the cities that played pivotal roles in the life of Jesus. My personal favorites were the Alma’Soap Luxury Winter Body Butter, IsraCandle Sea of Galilee Topographical Candle, Conscious Carob Syrup, and Israeli Winter Nights Herbal Tea Blend. — Remember, for a limited time you can save 25% on your first box! Just use coupon code “WENDY25” at checkout!
