This isn’t going to be your typical Product Review. Susan from Saddle Seeks Horse approached me about doing a joint, simultaneous product review of a new grooming tool. Of course, I jumped on the chance and suggested we should go one step further and do a video product review, in addition to our typical written content. Grooming Hands Review

I admit, I was skeptical at first. Grooming Hands look like cloth gardening gloves, with plastic nubs (a smaller version of the nubs you see on those jelly scrubbers at the tack store). Coming right out of the box, I wasn’t super impressed, but they did seem to be well made with good stitching that didn’t come apart when I accidentally closed one in a car door and didn’t realize it. Now, anyone who has read this blog for any amount of time knows that Miles has quintessential Thoroughbred skin… plus he’s a sensitive chestnut. When I first got him, he HATED to be groomed with anything, and while he’s gotten better, it’s still not his favorite activity. Knowing all of this, I figured Miles would make awful faces when I brought out the Grooming Hands. But… well… he didn’t. At all. He actually really liked them.

Using both hands made currying go so much faster, and the longer nubs on the ends of the fingers (for “fingernails) were really helpful for scrubbing some summer funk off Miles’ legs. You know those hard-to-reach nooks and crannies around the tendons? No longer hard to reach! So without further ado, I’ll let the video say the rest:

The Recommendation

I really like these gloves, and I’m keeping them in my regular grooming rotation. I expect they’re going to be extremely useful in the spring when my horse comes in covered in mud and I can clean him up in half the time, plus get all the tough dirt out of hard to reach spots. Grooming Hands are sensitive, thin-skinned Thoroughbred approved, and the compliments don’t really get much better than that!
