July 2017 BookLoot Review

Fall- where are you? You're supposed to be here but I see you nowhere. Here in the South, it feel like the dead of Summer. It's hot...hotter than it has been in months and it's really putting a damper on how long I can work outside. I have a tendency to pass out when I get too hot (there was a rather unfortunate incident at a Blink-182 concert last summer that involved me coming to while dangling over my husbands shoulder) so right now, I can only manage about an hour before I have to take a breather. But this respite does offer me time to write so here we are with the July BookLoot review!

BookLoot, who very kindly sent me this box for review, is a monthly YA Book subscription box.  The cost per month is $32.99 and subscribers "will receive One newly released Young Adult book (published within the month) 3-5 Bookish Goodies which can be anything from Candles, Pendants, Bookmarks etc… and a BookLoot exclusive Short Story from our very own user submitted stories."

This is my first time reviewing BookLoot so I'm really pleased and excited with what I'm seeing so far!

The theme for July was What Fate Awaits and included is a detailed information card that lists each item you will find waiting in your box.

Coloring Pages --- These are beautiful!  They were inspired by this month's theme and I Love that they included a little pack of coloring pencils too!  I'm not a huge coloring person but I do it when the mood strikes me.

Ink & Wonder Wooden Bookmark --- All of the designs from Ink & Wonder are gorgeous and this one is certainly no exception! It's a beautiful custom designed wooden bookmark and features a quote from A Thousand Pieces Of You by Claudia Gray.

Temporary Tattoo --- The temporarily tattoo was designed for Book Loot by Book Mark'd Tattoos. It is inspired by The raven boys (a series still on my tbr) and I really love the colors!

Blossom of Ash by Kennedy Vega ---
The winner from the July Short Story Contest. This short and sweet little lovely is a Hades and Persephone retelling. That happens to be one of my favorite stories ever so I can't wait to read it!

Candle --- This smells unbelievably good. This is the 'Goddess Sonmi' candle and it was inspired by Cloud Atlas. It was custom made by Lemon Cakes Candle & Co and not only does it smell fabulous, it looks pretty too! I love the silver glitter in the wax.

Also included is a pin with the design from this month's theme card and two pieces of salt water taffy (my favorite candy in the entire world!).

Library of Fates by Aditi Khorana --- Isn't this cover stunning? I love all the colors. This isn't a book I've heard much about but it is definitely up my alley! Here's the synopsis from Goodreads:

"No one is entirely certain what brings the Emperor Sikander to Shalingar. Until now, the idyllic kingdom has been immune to his many violent conquests. To keep the visit friendly, Princess Amrita has offered herself as his bride, sacrificing everything—family, her childhood love, and her freedom—to save her people. But her offer isn’t enough.

The palace is soon under siege, and Amrita finds herself a fugitive, utterly alone but for an oracle named Thala, who was kept by Sikander as a slave and managed to escape amid the chaos. With nothing and no one else to turn to, Amrita and Thala are forced to rely on each other. But while Amrita feels responsible for her kingdom and sets out to warn her people, the newly free Thala has no such ties. She encourages Amrita to go on a quest to find the fabled Library of All Things, where it is possible for each of them to reverse their fates. To go back to before Sikander took everything from them.

Stripped of all that she loves, caught between her rosy past and an unknown future, will Amrita be able to restore what was lost, or does another life—and another love—await?"

Yay! This was such a fun and wonderful box! Normally I don't have trouble figuring out what my favorite item is but I really loved everything that was included! It makes it into my top 10 book subscription boxes for sure!
