A director in the Kogi State civil service, Mr. Alphonsus Ameh, has died barely 3days after receiving a sack letter from the state government.
He died on monday January 1, of suspected heart failure from aggravated high blood pressure, a family source told newsmen.

Until his death, Ameh was a Director Administration and Finance (DAF) within the Kogi State Pension Board.
It was gathered that the late director was earlier suspended in Feb 2016 at the beginning of Governor Yahaya Bello's administration.
The deceased, who hailed from adecommunity in Olamaboro local government area, before his death resided at Zone 8 area, opposite Science school, Lokoja, Kogi State.
A niece to the deceased who spoke on condition of obscurity to newsmen saidthat Ameh was among the directors and permanent secretaries that were suspended in Feb, 2016.
The source said that Ameh, who was a Grade Level sixteen officer in the Kogi State Pension Board, was not paid any salary since his suspension about 2years ago.
According to the source, the 61-year-old civil servant, who officially received his Sack Letter on Friday, December 29, 2017, died within the early hours of Monday of high blood pressure at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja.
Meanwhile, the Kogi state governmenthas discharged the second batch of workers in the public service with forged certificates.
The list including workers on both state and local government payrolls has almost 800 names.
In a statement issued and signed yesterday by the state Auditor General, Alhaji Yakubu Okala, he stated that government was committed to sanitising the public service and makes it the pride of the state.
It noted that it'll accord top priority to the payment of salary this year and vowed to pursue programmes and policies which will impact on the lives of civil servants.
