5 Popular New Year Resolutions We Never Stick To

Happy new year! wishing you all the goodness that life has got to offer. A prosperous and flourishing year is what 2018 will bring. The age old cliche of  ''New year, new me'' seems to possess gradually metamorphosed into a statement that really appears like ''new year, same old''.

Actions speak louder than words they say, but usually we tend to make new year resolutions with the hope of achieving them before the end of the year. Fast forward a couple of weeks or months and these resolutions vanish just like the harmattan winds they came with.

Why can't we tend to make resolutions and follow them? Why is it so arduous to fulfil even two or 3 things on our checklists?

Is it a case of being excessively ambitious or we are simply too engulfed in old habits that we find it quite impossible to change? These and lots of more are the queries we should always ask ourselves.

If 2018 would be different, then we've to make realistic resolutions, discipline ourselves to stick with them and make sure that at the end of the year, we might have achieved at least 70th of them.

There are some extremely popular new year's resolutions that we regularly hear however nobody ever sticks to. Jumia Travel, Africa's leading on-line travel website examines some popular new year's resolutions that people never persist with.

Spend less/Save more - january !!! the first month of the year and also thestarting of everything. For many salaried workers, this is|this can be} the longest month of the year as the gap between the December salary which January salary is often endless.

As a result of this unfortunate development, many people usually make a particular resolution in the new year; to spend less and save more! Easier said than done right?

With the new year comes several plans and heavy expenditure. Although the resolution usually says spend less, we tend to end up spending more particularly during festivities and on special occasions.

Arguably, some of the spendings are out of our hands but once we can, we must always attempt to save plenty. This resolution, regardless ofhow tough it is to stick with is one of the most vital. The ability to effectively accomplish this makes us have an incredible year.

Lose or gain weight - after savings comes health. This can be by far the second preferred new year resolution on many people's checklists.

The keywords here are ''gain'' and ''lose'' with the latter the more often used. After the vacations, many people end up gaining a few more pounds. Hardly would you see a bulky person slim after Christmas.

In the new year, many people have a list that indicates they need to lose a certain amount of pounds. At the end of the year, several of them are either still the same size or perhaps a couple of pounds heavier. Funny how these people spend several hours in the gym yet come back to eat the same meals that caused the weight gain.

The opposite aspect of the coin also has the select few who wish to gain weight. One man's meat they say is another's poison. When one party is dying to lose weight, the other will do anything just to gain it.

The weight gain group {will also|also can|will} eat almost everything that comes their way but won't have enough rest and often will expend all the energy derived from the food they eat. In the end, December comes and this resolution is hardly achieved.

Focus a lot on one's self - have you ever heard people say that ''this year is all about me'' or ''it's time to do me''? Yes, most of you say it. To not say it's a nasty issue to do this but have you ever weighed the benefits and disadvantages of this?

Focusing more on yourself shouldn't mean cutting everybody else out of your life. This life isn't an island and you can not live alone.

However, you'll concentrate a lot of on improving yourself while you limit the indulgence of others in your life. In an effort to balance this, many people end up losing valuable family and friends or perhaps end up becoming lonely.

Depression can set in after you have no one to speak to or perhaps fall on in times of need. After we encounter such things in the early parts of the year, many of us lose hope and revert to our old ways! Where did the resolution go?
Live life to the fullest - YOLO! you simply live Once right? However if you live well, once is just enough. If you look through 80th of new year resolutions, you'll see this.

Have fun, live life, have a good time and be happy is what we frequently place down on those checklists . We frequently even do this without factoring in life events and happenings. We don't control life and things happen.

Althoughwe cannot arrange to be unhappy, life has it's own plans and that we always need to prepare for unforeseen circumstances. These Mishappens usually alter our plans of having a fun year. We might even not be ready to bounce back after them. So while you'll, simply enjoy yourself, rejoice and celebrate each happy moment.

Learn a new skill - The goal isn't to finish each year the way we started. Life is all about improvements in all aspects. We can and should always grow.

One good way to grow is by acquiring new skills. Often we hear people talk about learning to drive, swim, cook, paint etc before the year ends. These skills are necessary always and will be nice to acquire.

However, many make these resolutions but hardly fulfil them. It doesn't take long to learn such skills therefore a year is enough time to successfully learn 2 or more.

What can we see? The year ends with not even one skill learnt. We even end up postponing to the following year or forgetting about it completely. Regardless of what happens, end the year better than you started. Add up!

All in all, new year resolutions are nice and they function as guide to achieving bigger things. despite how you have failed to accomplish them, you can't quit. Eventually you'll cross them out of that list after completion.

Have you made your new year's resolutions yet? If you have, it's about time you started acting on it. you only have twelve months to accomplish them. Let's go! If you haven't created one yet, take a second and draw a practical list. Let's make 2018 a year to recollect.
