Business Insider rounded up some of the statistics – from the fact that it takes 48 hours for MDMA to leave your blood to the fact that it takes four days after taking cocaine to pass a urine test.
Drug charity Frank says that a lot depends on what type of drug testing kit is used – and how regularly you take the substance.
So why is cannabis so bad? Cannabis is ‘lipophilic’, meaning it dissolves in fat in the body.
This means traces of the drug can remain in the body for far longer than other drugs such as cocaine – leading to users failing drug tests up to 10 days after smoking a joint.
Heavy users can test positive up to three months after stopping smoking.
Alcohol
It’s legal, so we’re not sure exactly why you’d be tested for alcohol use. But, in any case, alcohol will stay in your blood for 10 to 12 hours, in your urine for three to five days, and in your Hair for 90 days.
Weed
Weed – aka cannabis, aka marijuana – will stay in your blood for two weeks, your urine for up to 30 days, and your hair for up to 90 days.
Cocaine
Cocaine, aka coke, will show up in your blood for one to two days, your urine for three to four days, and your hair for up to 90 days.
LSD
Also known as acid, LSD will stay in your blood for two to three hours, your urine for one to three days, and your hair for up to three days.
MDMA
MDMA, also known as ecstasy, will be in your blood for one to two days, your urine for three to four days, and your hair for up to 90 days.
Heroin
Heroin stays in your blood for 12 hours, your urine for three to four days, and your hair for up to 90 days.
Methamphetamine
Also known as meth, or crystal meth – this stuff stays in your blood for 24 to 72 hours, your urine for three to six days, and your hair for up to 90 days.
