Hello there, readers! Happy October! It’s that time of year again. 😊

And guess what? That very exciting holiday, Halloween, is creeping up on us…here’s a fun take on it, especially for those wary of getting out with the risk of exposure to who-knows-what level of germs. Am I right? 😉

This week, we’ll be running a fantastic Halloween-themed giveaway here on the Writing in the Modern Age blog in celebration of all things scary, supernaturally sexy, and mysterious! Thrillers are welcome as well!

Good point! Let me give you more of an idea about what prizes you’ll find in this Contest. I’ve asked authors to donate a variety of different books which fit the Halloween theme. All monsters are welcome, from supernatural creatures to the very human, yet terrifying murderer types. We're also offering some lighthearted or humorous reads.

Be prepared to find paranormal fiction of any kind, including some shapeshifter romance books, as well as hard-boiled mystery, cozy mystery, suspense/thrillers, also fantasies featuring magical talents, scary science fiction, horror reads, romantic suspense, and urban fantasy. And the list just goes on! Expect these donations to range from YA to more adult tales. Also, some cool swag! Just anything that fits our theme…

If you’re a loyal subscriber to this blog, then you probably haven’t seen a Halloween giveaway here since 2015. We’ve always either run contests for all book genres, or at least just romance novels. Now, though, things are a little different.

Let’s learn some more information, huh?

As your blog moderator, I will be conducting the contest. If you came to this year’s post-Christmas event, then you know I’ve started using Rafflecopter to hold the individual contests, as the app helps keep me much more organized than my previous methods. For example, rather than giving me your reading preferences manually by posting a comment here, you will instead place an entry each on only the prize contests that interest you. Sound good? 😊

Now, I know some of you might’ve begun to abhor Rafflecopter, due to all the steps involved in following each author’s social media URLs. However, I’d advise you to press on this time, since I’m trying to make it easier for contest participants. You can still do all those steps, of course, but there’s also an automatic free entry included. Just as long as you’ve signed in to Rafflecopter (you’ll be able to tell if it automatically lets you place an entry on a contest), and I have a way to reach you in case you’ve won a prize, then we’re good. As a bonus point, feel free to answer our polled question at the end of the post. For mailed book donations, pay special attention to the instructions about the winner’s location, as some of us might struggle with shipping costs. 

Also, if you navigate to the top left sidebar of the page where it’s labeled ‘Aoede's 'Skeletons' song for October’ (and you have your speakers turned on), hit the play button and you can hear something cool. The awesome songwriter/artist Aeode (aka author Lisa A. Sniderman) has kindly donated her song, ‘Skeletons’ to our cause.
