World’s Largest Catamaran Designed As An Art Gallery

Artist’s Impression of the Art Gallery Catamaran

When fearless Frenchman, Frédéric Jousset, was struck with the idea of a super yacht-cum-Art Gallery, he was at the helm of a charter he was sailing a couple of years ago. The idea formed as part of a plan to combine his two loves, world culture and sailing. So he commissioned the world’s largest Art Gallery Catamaran. The idea made more and more sense the more he pondered it, no one had thought of using the sea as a platform for art.

The catamaran is to be called the ArtExplorer and will debut at La Biennale di Venezia in 2023 as the only yacht of it’s type in the world. Jousset already has a plan for how the programme will work, a month for him and his guests, a month of yard work and then the catamaran will be available for chartering for 2 months. This leaves 8 months of the year available for art exhibitions. There was fierce competition for the job of designing the yacht, eventually the job went to a collaboration between Axel de Beaufort, who heads his own design studio and Japanese designer Oki Sato.
