One of the highlights of the recent Geneva Motor Show was the reveal of Nissan’s plans for the new Qashqai. The new edition was sporting a redesigned, sharpened face plus an angular grille and a headlight setup that has echoes of the new Micra. Prices for the new generation are expected to begin around £19,000.
Inside, the Qashqai has been invigorated. The quality of materials is notably better and additional sound proofing enhances the overall refinement. A new top trim level, called Tekna+, has been incorporated that features leather upholstery with 3D quilting.
Another exciting new feature is the addition of ProPilot – an advanced safety technology which helps control steering, acceleration and braking when travelling on the motorway, a sort of semi-autonomous driving ability for all conditions. Other examples of new tech include rear cross traffic alert and improved auto emergency braking.
The engine range looks to be staying the same as the current crop – meaning they’ll be 1.2-Litre 115PS and 1.6-litre 163PS petrol engines, plus 1.5-litre 110PS and 1.6-litre dCi 130PS diesels. The range will be primarily front-wheeled; the top 130PS diesels will feature all-wheel drive plus Xtronic automatic transmission.
