The Yoruba fraction of Nollywood has lost another Fast-rising star, Gbemi Anjola to the cold hands of death.

The 33-year-old actress died on Friday, the 24th of March, 2023, after a prolong battle with ovarian cancer.

Gbemi was diagnosed with the ailment in 2021. As a result of this, she traveled to Dubai, UAE for chemotherapy which lasted about 6 months.

After her medical treatment in Dubai, she came back to Nigeria cancer-free. On Friday, the 25th of March, 2023, the actress complained of memory loss and headache.

She was rushed to the hospital, but, unfortunately, Gbemi was pronounced dead.

The Nigerian Entertainment Industry was thrown into a state of mourning recently when the news of a beloved actor’s passing was shared by her colleagues. Itele and Zainab Balogun, two of her colleagues in the industry, took to their Instagram pages to mourn the late actor, who had touched the lives of many with her talent and presence.

The news of her passing was a shock to many, as she was a rising star in the industry, with a promising career ahead of her. Her colleagues, who had worked closely with her, were understandably devastated by the news and expressed their grief on social media.

Nkechi Blessing, Kunle Afod and Biodun Okeowo, three of the late actor’s colleagues, also shared their condolences on their colleagues’ comment section. The outpouring of grief and support from her peers is a testament to the impact she had on the industry, and the loss will be felt deeply by all who knew and worked with her.
