“American Japa” stars Toyin Abraham, Kanayo O, and Odunlade Adekola
On September 6, “American Japa,” a Nollywood film directed by American-Nigerian filmmaker Tony Abulu, is set to open in theaters.

The narrative of the movie centers on sex workers who hope to go to the US in pursuit of better prospects.
The Yoruba word “Japa” means “to escape,” alluding to the exodus of Nigerians seeking better economic opportunities abroad.
Many well-known Nollywood actors, including Toyin Abraham, Odunlade Adekola, Bolanle Ninalowo, Segun Arinze, Yemi Blaq, and Kanayo O Kanayo, are in the film.
Ronke Oshodi Oke, Jide Kosoko, Wumi Toriola, Jumoke Odetola, Tina Amuziam, Lizzy Jay, Shirley Igwe, and Tommy Roland are among the other actors who appear in the movie.
An initiative by Atlantic World Digital Communications is called American Japa. With co-producer Angel Ufuoma, it was produced by Abulu, a Nigerian-born American producer currently residing in the US.
