First Look The 2024 Hyundai Sonata-
2024 Hyundai Sonata injects some attitude into the family-sedan sector, which we hope will wake up the others. Its mid-cycle revamp includes new front and back bumpers, headlights and taillights, as well as significant interior improvements.
While complete specifications are yet to be announced, we wouldn’t be shocked if the Sonata kept its current powertrains, which include a 191-hp base engine, a 180-hp turbocharged inline-four, and a 290-hp turbo four in the N Line variant.
The 195-hp Sonata Hybrid, which has a high fuel economy rating, will also remain. The Sonata will compete with the revamped Honda Accord, which received our 10Best award when it first debuted, as well as the revised Nissan Altima.

Hyundai updates the Sonata for 2024. The wacky daytime running lights that ran parallel to the bonnet have been replaced by, well, wacky daytime running lights that span the whole of the front bumper. The rear bumper cover and taillights are also revised, but the most significant change occurs on the inside.
Two 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreens are now mounted on a single curved display mount. The steering wheel is also different. The gear selector was relocated from the centre console to a knob protruding from the steering column. Complete specifications will be revealed when the new automobile officially appears later this spring.

Not only is the SEL Plus model the most affordable way to get the upgraded turbo-four engine, it also comes with bigger wheels and better tyres. We’d add the Tech package to our preferred Sonata as well. It features a 12-speaker Bose audio, 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, and semi-autonomous drive mode.

Hyundai follows in the footsteps of BMW with a large display module on the dashboard that houses two 12.3-inch displays for infotainment. The first is for the driver, and the second is a touchscreen for infotainment controls. Hyundai hasn’t revealed if Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be standard, or whether wireless smartphone charging will be available, but we’ll keep you updated as we hear more about the next redesigned Sonata.
The SmartSense package of driver-assistance features, which includes automatic high-beam assist, adaptive cruise control, and a driver-attention warning that detects drowsy or distracted driving, is standard. The Sonata can even pull in and out of a parking space while you wait for it from outside. Nevertheless, that functionality is reserved for the top-level Limited trim

The inside of the Sonata receives a significant overhaul for 2024. For starters, the steering wheel, dashboard, infotainment, and driver-info displays have all been updated, as has the centre console.
The new Sonata makes a greater effort to enhance comfort by shifting the gear selector to the steering column, which allows for more storage and cupholder space than before.
The central armrest, which houses numerous elbows, receives an extra palm rest, giving the driver more area to relax. The updated materials extend over the dashboard and into the rear-passenger compartment, making the Sonata an even greater value than before.

The Sonata 2023 comes with three engine choices. All three come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and are only available in front-wheel drive. SE and SEL grades feature a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. Fuel efficiency for SE models starts at 28/38 mpg city/highway (the SEL’s 17-inch wheels make it somewhat less efficient).
Upgrading to the SEL Plus or Limited grades offers a 1.6-liter turbo-four with 180 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. The Sonata’s 0-60 time is 7.4 seconds, making it somewhat faster than a standard Camry or Accord. The fuel efficiency is respectable at 27/37 mpg.
The sporty Sonata N Line is powered by a 2.5-liter turbo-four producing 290 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque.The N Line is a genuine, smile-inducing sports sedan. It dispatches the 0-60 sprint in 5.3 seconds, and we came away from our First Drive shocked to find a Hyundai that “can legitimately run with BMWs.” At 23/33 mpg, fuel economy is decent for a performance model.
