Kyrie Irving ‘has contacted LeBron James in a bid to lure him to Dallas this offseason’

Kyrie Irving ‘has contacted LeBron James in a bid to lure him to Dallas this offseason’ – as Lakers star, 38, continues to weigh up his future

  • In Cleveland six years ago, Irving demanded a trade to escape James’s shadow
  • Dallas missed the playoffs while LeBron led the Lakers to a conference final

Kyrie Irving seems to want a reunion with his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate, LeBron James.

But instead of trying to leverage his way out of Dallas to join LeBron on the Lakers, Kyrie is asking James to join him on the Mavericks, according to Shams Charania.

All this comes as speculation surrounding James’ immediate future – including whether or not he’ll retire – continues to swirl.

Six years after Irving demanded a trade away from Cleveland to step out of LeBron’s shadow following their 2016 NBA title victory, it seems Irving is willing to go back into the shade. Irving has not been able to reach the NBA Finals since he demanded his move away – with his presence in Boston and Brooklyn unable to get results.

Meanwhile, not only would James go on to reach the finals again with Cleveland in 2018, he would win the NBA title with the Lakers in 2020.

A move away from Los Angeles – where James’ family has been for years – is not likely

The likelihood of James leaving Los Angeles for Dallas is seemingly low – especially considering LeBron’s family has been living in the City of Angels since 2015.

LeBron’s son Bryce is still attending high school in the area and his oldest son Bronny just committed to play at USC.

With that said, James would fit in well on a Mavericks team boasting the likes of Irving and Luka Doncic.

The Lakers were a surprise team in these NBA Playoffs, winning the Play-In Tournament and making it all the way to the Western Conference Finals before being swept by Denver.

Dallas, on the other hand, went all in on a playoff push by getting Irving – only to implode down the stretch and miss the postseason entirely.
