Magoha postpones re-opening of schools to Thursday,18th August

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Prof. George Magoha has pushed the re-opening of schools across the country to Thursday, 18th August 2022.

Through a press release, the Education CS noted the ongoing tallying of ballots following the general election was the reason behind the issuance of a new date when schools in the country will be basic education.

“Following the conduct of our National Elections on Tuesday 9th August, 2022 the process of tallying of ballots is still ongoing. Therefore, following further consultations, I hereby convey the Government’s decision on the suspension of the reopening of ALL Basic Education institutions with effect from Monday, 15th August, 2022 until Thursday 18th August, 2022,” said Education CS George Magoha

This is the second time the Ministry is pushing the school re-opening after confirming Monday, August 15th as the official date following the kick off elections in the country.

Kenyans have however expressed doubt over returning their children to school given the political atmosphere surrounding the release of the presidential results by the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC).
