Woman in Sonko’s child upkeep drama withdraws case

A Woman who had sued former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko over child upkeep has withdrawn the case citing that she had been coerced to taint his name.

Through court document seen by Newsmoto, the woman revealed that she was promised a sum of Ksh 1 million by two women from Mombasa County to trash the name of Mike Sonko who was vying for the Mombasa Governor seat.

She continued by confirming that she was paid Ksh 240,000 by the two ladies and after a deep soul search she has considered withdrawing the May 12th, 2022 case against Sonko. The woman also apologized to the former Governor.

Sonko had been sued for being a deadbeat by the woman who was then seeking Ksh 448,450 to carter for their then alleged 15-year-old daughter’s expenses including school fees.

Troubled by the news, Sonko took to social media to confirm that he has nothing against children and that he is ready to take the said daughter under his care, something that he repeated again on Thursday.

“No matter how bad everyone may see me, I have kids who are not mine in my house whom I have well taken care of.

I don’t think I can refuse to take care of any kid out there whether mine or not. I knew this was just planned by my political enemies but from the bottom of my heart, I forgive them. I’ve also just forgiven this lady they used to taint my name & I wish her well in her endeavors.” Said Sonko
