Azimio issues demands to participate Presidential debate

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance has issued a set of demands if there Presidential candidate Hon. Raila Odinga is to participate in the Presidential Debate.

The Alliance has requested the Tuesday evening event to stay clear of President Uhuru Kenyatta, should not insult the Head of State but instead address matters corruption and integrity.

Allies of the former Prime Minister are reported to have advised Hon. Raila Odinga to skip the debate if matters of discussion revolve around President Uhuru Kenyatta, terming the discussion a sideshow.

  • Ruto barred from holding public rally at Nyayo stadium
  • Supreme Court halts High Court orders clearing Reuben Kigame
  • Raila congratulates running mate Martha Karua’s poise

The news was confirmed by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed who noted that the debate will be useless if the discussions are similar to those addressed by Kenya Kwanza running mate Rigathi Gachagua.

“Some people are saying that we have a debate between William Ruto and Baba, is that even possible? Baba will attend the debate, this is my personal opinion and not that of Baba, if three issues will be discussed: integrity, corruption and governance. If there is going to be other issues, we want to send Embakasi East MP Babu Owino to debate with William Ruto,”

“If we are going to discuss issues which are not important like we saw with Rigathi Gachagua, as Secretary General of Azimio, I will send Babu Owino to battle it out with William Ruto. Our competitors want to debate about President Uhuru Kenyatta, let them go and look for him and not drag him into the debate,” said Junet
