President Uhuru opts for Mombasa after UK visit

President Uhuru Kenyatta is in Mombasa after completing a successful trip to the United Kingdom.

The Head of State was initially expected to land at JKIA before those waiting to receive him were forced to fly to Mombasa.

After departing on July 26th aboard the Kenya Airways, President Uhuru was welcomed on Friday midnight by CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i and Chief of Defense Forces Gen. Robert Kibochi who briefed him at the airport.

He now expected to hold private meeting with family members before heading to Nairobi on Wednesday where he will proceed with other engagements.

President Uhuru Kenyatta struck a deal with the UK that will qualified but unemployed Health workers move to the United Kingdom for employment purposes.

“Kenya and the United Kingdom (UK) on Thursday signed two key agreements in the health sector, on the third day of President Kenyatta’s official visit to the European nation.

The first pact, signed by Labour Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui and UK’s Secretary of State for Health Sajid Javid, is a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Health Workforce Collaboration.

The second agreement; MoU, is on the launch of UK-Kenya Health Alliance, was signed by Official UoM’s VP Prof Graham Lord, Dr Richard Cowan of Christie hospital, John Wareing of the University of Manchester Foundation Trust & Kenya’s High Commissioner to the UK Amb MEsipisu.

The agreement on health workforce collaboration provides a framework for capacity building and exchange of health workers between Kenya and the UK, while the health alliance is a collaborative platform for healthcare providers.

Speaking at the Royal College of Physicians in central London where the agreements were entered, President Kenyatta expressed optimism that the two pacts will deepen the Kenya-UK partnership in healthcare provision.” Said State House
