Sir Michael Caine to retire, post Best Sellers

Two-time Academy Award winner Sir Michael Caine is calling it quits at the age of 88

Iconic actor Sir Michael Caine is calling it quits. The 88-year-old actor who has mesmerised audiences with a variety of roles all through his long career has announced that he will retire from acting soon after his final outing in the flick Best Sellers.

Sir Michael Caine, who has been decorated twice with the Academy Awards, said he has decided to retire as he has turned 88 and that there aren’t many many scripts that have a leading man who’s 88, coming up.

The actor, whose part in the movie Best Sellers is his last, was not seen on-screen over the past couple of years as he had issues with his spine and that affected his legs.

Sir Michael Caine who has given us brilliant acting performances in films such as Zulu, Alfie, Dressed to Kill, The Italian Job, Get Carter, The Man Who Would Be King and many more, was recently seen in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet and Twist.

He has been the recipient of two Academy Awards and three Golden Globes and has to his credit iconic roles that still entertain the global audience.

Actor turns author, has six books to his credit

Caine has also authored a few books, and it looks like he would be writing more as he wouldn’t have to spare time for acting, post-retirement. With six books to his credit, he has also won scores of fans for his creations titled Blowing the Bloody Doors Off: And Other Lessons in Life, published by Hachette Book Group in 2018.

Best Sellers has Sir Michael Caine playing the role of a writer named Harris Shaw. The film also stars Scott Speedman, Cary Elwes and Ellen Wong.

With a global fan following, Sir Michael Caine has been among the best the audiences have been treated to by Hollywood. Though he feels that there aren’t many roles coming in for an 88-year-old, Hollywood has been churning out amazing scripts for the veterans. Sir Michael Caine’s followers who had been looking forward to more roles from his, would not be happy with the retirement decision. For, they believe that he had much more to present to the global movie buff.

Meanwhile, the actor’s representatives aren’t very sure whether he would retire, though he had said so. They are of the opinion that he might be seen in a few more movies before he finally decides on retirement.
