Consistency equals trust, in work and in life.  Learning to be Consistent is a lot like building a habit and building habits can be hard.  In order for our brain to form the neural connections needed, we must repeat a positive behavior again… and again… and again.  The more we repeat behavior, the stronger the neural pathways in our brain become and the more likely we are to continue with the behavior in an innate and organic way.  In other words, the more we repeat, the less effort it takes to do a particular behavior.  In a funny way, even though the definition of being consistent is doing something in the same way over time… we still have to work at it.

Being consistent is key to finding success, opportunities, and being identified as a thought leader in your preferred niche.  If consistency is a challenging practice for you to grasp, try starting with these 3 tips. 

1. Isolate goals

Instead of biting off more than you can chew, pick one thing that you can focus on at a time.  I’m sure you have several goals that you’d like to focus on.  Take a moment, map them out, and start with one.

2. Slow and Steady Win the Race

Learning to be consistent will take time and it won’t happen overnight, so it’s important to recognize that before you get started.  Celebrate the small wins and embrace the failures along the way.  Whatever you do, give yourself grace in the process and don’t give up.

3. Onward and Upward

As with anything, learning a new behavior will take time and energy.  Stay focused and keep pressing forward.  It might feel emotionally taxing and that’s ok.  Remember how great of an accomplishment you will feel if you keep pressing onward and upward toward this goal.  Consistency is key and a necessary practice for so many things in life.  Mastering this behavior is only going to help you.
