How to Make a Bow Out of Ribbon
You can make a simple bow with any kind of ribbon: silk, grosgrain, velvet or wired. Choose a Ribbon in your desired thickness. Any width works, but the wider the ribbon, the bigger the bow.
Supplies: ribbon, ruler, scissors
1. Cut a piece of ribbon. Fifteen to 20 inches of ribbon will make a nice-size, simple bow.
2. Make two loops (or bunny ears) with your ribbon. Adjust the loops to be the size you want the loops of your bow to be. Make sure your tails are fairly even too.
3. Fold the left loop over the right loop and bring it around and back through the center hole.
4. Pull tight to create a knot. Tug on the loops and tails to finesse your bow, and remember: No one gets a perfect bow on the first try.
The tag I bought from our local Dollar general store and after the holiday I will repaint and use it in a holiday wreath.
My Mom’s Pumpkin:
My Mom’s pumpkin has been out for every Halloween I can remember. Lighted with a battery operated candle for light. It can be placed outside and used but Mom always used it as a center piece of her table scape. Like Mom I will be using in as a center piece of my table. Mom is who I got my love of holidays and decorations from. So this year it is fitting that in remembrance of her I have taken up the challenge…. Lisa
pumpkin spice potpourri recipe
- 1 cinnamon stick, broken in half
- 1/2 tsp Chinese 5 spice
- star anises
- 1 tbsp pumpkin spice or ground cinnamon
- 1/2 of a nutmeg, finely ground
- 1 tsp whole cloves
- 1 1/2 cup water
INSTRUCTIONS
- Mix all ingredients together and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to lowest simmer possible.
- Keep an eye on the simmering potpourri and refill with more water as needed.
- Simmer for 2-4 hours or however long you desire.
