Grand Bazaar to Reopen June 6

Grand Bazaar NYC, the open air (and indoor) market which, until the pandemic hit, took place every Sunday in the playground at 100 West 77th Street (at Columbus Avenue), has confirmed it will be back in business on June 6 – after being closed for 15 months.

Grand Bazaar is NYC’s largest curated weekly market, featuring local artists, designers, antique and vintage dealers, jewelers, food entrepreneurs and more. Grand Bazaar also donates 100% of its profits to local public schools, which was the market’s original purpose when it was founded as GreenFlea in 1982. The name was changed to Grand Bazaar NYC in 2016.

Admission is always free, with the market open on Sundays year-round from 10am to 5:30pm.

Grand Bazaar plans to schedule its usual themed events once the city increases capacity restrictions. Some annual adventures to look forward to include:

  • An annual food truck festival. In years past, this event has taken place during April – so we’ll have to see if it happens in 2021. The event is co-sponsored by the NYC Food Truck Association.
  • The Summer Ice Cream Blizzard. This late July event brings tons of ice cream makers to the market, and usually coincides with National Ice Cream Day (which this year is July 18).
  • The Halloween Scary Bazaar. All vendors dress up in costumes, the space is adorned with creepy decorations, and unique candy is offered for sale.
  • The Grand Holiday Bazaar. Unique gift items are offered from late November to late December, with offerings including handmade holiday decorations and fashion, vintage watches and collectibles, art & photography, antique silverware, jewelry & furniture, artisanal foods and more.
