Meet my New Talking Baby Parrotlet!
What is a parrotlet
The Parrotlet has various local names. In America, the proper name would be “forpus parrot” indeed it is the smallest parrot in the world. In Europe, although this species is not part of the parakeets, the name used would be “sparrow parakeet”, and the most global name, the most common would be “celestial toui”.Description
The Celestial Toui ( Forpus coelestis ) has green plumage, as does the Evergreen ( Forpus passerinus ), but there are other man-made mutations, including American yellow and turquoise blue. This bird presents a fairly obvious sexual dimorphism: the male has a blue coloration at the level of the flight feathers and the rump and forming a line behind the eyes. This bird measures 12 to 13 cm.Parrotlet lifespan
Parrotlet lifespan is on average for 15- 20 years, provided their needs of daily exercise and healthy nutrition is met Parrotlets are among the longest-living parrot species, and if their needs are met,The Parrotlets – A short film about Parrotlets

Distribution
This bird lives in Ecuador and Peru.Habitat
This species frequents wooded and dry areas as well as secondary forests.Nesting
The female lays between 4 and 8 eggs which she incubates for 18 to 20 days. The young leave the nest around the age of 30 days. The father helps the mother to feed the chicks. The young will reach sexual maturity at the age of 1 year. If they mate too early, the female may die of exhaustion.Longevity
This species can live between 10 and 15 years in captivity.Breeding
How do I teach my parrotlet to talk?
By bonding with your bird and talking to him/her and repeating words you would like them to say. Patience and perseverance. Can parrotlets live with budgies but not in the same cage? Like they can both fly around in the house.
Will they fight because parrotlets are territorial?
As long as separate cages are kept they can fly together outside of their respective homes. Budgies are the more easy-going and accepting, as long as you keep their cages separate there shouldn’t be an issue.Should I get a budgie, a ringneck or parrotlet?
Budgies are definitely the easiest to tame, the cheapest, and probably require the least amount of work. That being said I wouldn’t suggest getting any bird unless you plan to take time with the bird outside of the cage. I don’t think it’s fair for any bird to be simply locked in a cage for its entire life. I don’t have a lot of experience with ringnecks, but I would highly suggest NOT getting parrotlet. As cute as they are, they have a tendency to be extremely cage aggressive….meaning they’ll be your friend (sometimes) once they’re out & away from their cage. However, when they are in, on, or near their cage, they get very aggressive and will bite to draw blood. I have tamed many budgies, cockatiels, and cockatoos. And though I was able to somewhat tame the parrotlet, the cage aggression never fully went away.Parrotlet food
