6 Things to Never Say or Do in Russia

There are essentially 6 things to never say or do in Russia. Now we know that traveling to Russia is off the table right now, but we are hopeful that the bans will be lifted soon. Until then, enjoy your journey dating online! So what are the 6 tips we have for you today? Let’s find out.

Don’t Visit Empty-Handed

The first thing to never say or do in Russia is show up to a home empty-handed. If a Russian woman invites you over (we believe your dating journey will take you this far), make sure you bring something. Russians spend a lot of time preparing for their guests when they have company. Oftentimes they even cook special dishes they wouldn’t normally cook to welcome you to their home. So show that you care and bring some flowers or chocolate. It’s the least you can do.

Don’t Tell Jokes About Parents

The second thing to never say or do in Russia is tell a joke about someone’s parents. Family is very important to Russian culture so don’t insult anyone by joking around their loved ones. On the other hand, Russians are not politically correct so they will be more than happy to hear your other anecdotes.

Don’t Underdress

Third on the list of things to never say or do in Russia involves your attire. Never, never be underdressed. Russian Women always present the best version of themselves when they leave the house. They expect you to do the same, especially if you are so inclined to date them. A sloppy, wrinkled shirt is just never going to be ok in Russia. Take more time for your appearance, as it means you care about yourself. Unlike the United States, Russia doesn’t believe that taking care of your outward appearance means you’re self-absorbed

Don’t Make a Woman Go Dutch

The fourth thing to never say or do in Russia is making a woman go dutch. If you ask her out, don’t expect her to pay for herself. Show her you believe in chivalry and be a gentleman. Pay for her evening and don’t look at her when the bill comes. Just take care of it. The fastest way to end a relationship with your Russian sweetheart is to ditch your manners.

Don’t Let Women Carry Heavy Objects

The fifth thing to never say or do in Russia is let a woman carry heavy things. If you see her about to pick up an object that is clearly half her weight or more, be insistent on taking care of it for her. She may fight you on it in the beginning because Russian women are independent. But just because she fights you a bit on the gesture doesn’t mean she wants you to give in so easily. If you explain that you want to love her and take care of her by taking those heavy items, she will understand and appreciate your intention.

Avoid Burping in Public

Of the 6 things to never say or do in Russia, the last on the list is rather comical. Guess what it involves? Burping. Whenever you burp, do so in private. It is incredibly impolite to have any expression of bodily functions in public. Be discreet about it if you have to do it. If you just can’t hold it in and you do it anyway, don’t apologize. It just brings more attention to you and that is what you don’t want.
