Ingredients Needed For Halloween Dirt Pudding Cups

Here’s everything you need to make Halloween dirt cups!

  • Chocolate Pudding
  • Milk
  • Cool Whip (or Easy Homemade Fresh Whipped Cream)
  • Oreos
  • Gummy Worms
  • Milano Cookies
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Shortening
  • Piping Bag
  • 9oz  Clear Plastic Cups (or smaller)

How To Make Halloween Graveyard Dirt Cups

Making Halloween dirt cups is easier than you may think. I love making holiday-themed food that’s simple!

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine milk and pudding mixes. It is best to use an electric mixer because this mixture is very thick. Place bowl in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.

Step 2

Meanwhile, place Oreos in the food processor and finely chop. If you don’t have a food processor, place them in a large resealable plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin or mallet.

Step 3

Remove the pudding mixture from the refrigerator and mix in whipped topping.

Step 4

Place about ½ an inch of crushed Oreo at the bottom of each cup. Spoon pudding mixture evenly into each cup and top with a thick layer of crushed Oreos. Place in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.

Step 5

Melt chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler. Place in a piping bag and cut a small hole in the tip. Use the chocolate to decorate Milano cookies like gravestones or ghosts.

Step 6

Remove the pudding cups from the refrigerator and press the bottom half of a Milano cookie into each cup. Decorate with gummy worms and sprinkles to create a mini “graveyard”

Serve immediately.

Oreo Dirt Cups Recipe Notes

Here are a few notes and tips to help these Oreo dirt cups come out perfectly every time!

  • This recipe can be made with sugar-free pudding and cool whip for a lighter version.
  • Serving small kids or kids in the classroom? Smaller cups can be used to create smaller pudding Halloween dirt cups.
  • Turn this fun recipe into a pumpkin patch pudding dirt cup dessert by replacing the gravestones with candy pumpkins!
  • Grab some Halloween Peeps and add them. You might be able to find ghosts, black cats, or even Frankenstein.
  • If you really want to put a fun, funky spin on Halloween dirt cups, take a few plain or mint Oreos, open up the cookies, and add some funky candy eyes!
  • Layer the pudding and crushed Oreos to make a trifle-style treat.
  • Use different flavors of Oreos to change up the flavor. Caramel, peanut butter, or others.
  • Don’t want to use shortening? Substitute an equivalent amount of coconut oil or butter!
